Intelligent Key Smarter Than The Driver - Click HERE for Original Thread

Now that we know that the Intelligent Key won't let us lock the keys inside, here's another instance where it's "intelligence" surpasses that of the driver…
Being a one car family with three drivers and three separate agendas, the MO gets quite a lot of use on the weekends. Many times the next driver in line is waiting outside for the car to return and we switch drivers without even turning off the engine. Yesterday this happened with my daughter and I. I hopped out, she hopped in and off she went down the block. When she got to the corner, I watched her stop, put it in reverse and back up to the house again. There was a big flashing orange "NO KEY" warning on the speedometer alerting her that I still had the key in my pocket and that she didn't have one on her. Without the warning, she could have driven across town, turned off the car and then be stranded without a key. It's nice to know someone (or in this case SOMETHING is thinking). Take care!

When you close the door, the Mo beeps several times to let you know you have the key outside while the engine is running.

Will the vehicle not shut off once it has gone xxx feet from the key? I had wanted to test it but haven't yet. I wonder if I could drive 2 miles down the road without it shutting off somehow, or bells and whistles going off to notify me.

I guess as long as you don't turn it off, you could drive across the state and back.

majik,

I was wondering if the car let you shut the engine off without having the key on you, but it does. Being stranded because you forgot to bring a key with you is just an inconvenience on your part; not being able to shut off the engine would be totally unsafe. Take care!

Yeah, as long as you don't run out of gas! :p
