Polaris
Hi guys

Gas is now go up to $4.00 in US, So I have to think fuel my MO '06 ( only 4000 miles) regular or premium:confused: - before I always pump premium and the question:
1) Is it ok to use the regular gas?
2) what is the differrent or any problem to engine if use regular?
3) POLL: how many folks use the regular gas ? or Premium?

my driving condition: most in local, not much on highway because I live in New YorK City.

Thank you
mgthe3
Not to seem snotty or anything, but, there are polls on this already.

And, the subject has literally been beat to quarks.
One of the cool features of this forum is the search feature.
Do a search and see that this horse has not only died, it is already dirt.

That was funny!
But in case your search function does not work: MO is designed to operate on any grade gas. So go for it.

As a new person on board (and by the way, welcome to the forum) I know it maybe difficult to know how to look for information. However, I have to agree with mgthe3 that the search function here is very intuitive and powerful. For instance, I just typed the words "grade of gas" and I got the following results : http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/...rder=descending

I am sure you will learn all the functions in no time at all.

Again, welcome aboard, and happy searching....;)

The search function *does* work, and yeah this is the most common question on this forum and has been answered in a variety of ways probably hundreds of times.

Bottom line: you can use regular without damaging the engine, but will get a little bit more horsepower with premium. Is it enough to notice? Probably not for the average driver. Depends if you want to spend the extra $3 or $4 per $75 fillup to get maximum power and fuel economy.

For your type of stop and go driving in NYC, I would use regular since that type of driving would give you pretty lousy fuel economy anyways.

thanks again zebelkhan

Polaris - my recent experience has confirmed that for me, Premium is worth the extra cost.

I recently drove from Virginia to Ohio to pick up a boat (18 foot aluminum high performance bass boat with a weight of about 2200 pounds - well within Murano limits of 3500). On flat and moderate terrain, no problem (even with regular), but going through the "mountains" of West Virginia on the way back with regular gas, I had trouble maintaining speed (about 65/70mph). The Murano did do it, but there was no question the engine and transmission were straining with regular fuel. Mileage dropped so much, that for a single tank through the mountains, I got about 170 miles. Even with towing, I can usually get at least 250 miles from a single tank of premium, if not more.

After draining the tank of regular, I filled it up with Premium and mileage AND power shot up - and I was still going through mountains on the western side of Virginia.

So for me, the extra cost is worth it for better mileage and power. YMMV

Sorry about that Polaris, my reply was more in jest than a snippy comment/reply. We are a light hearted band of brothers here. Lack of inflection in written word has it's issues. Please just know my reply was in jest and was a nudge to use the search function.

Lengthy discussion on high compression engines/use of premium grade fuels, goes here -->
I have typed out pages on this, more than 3 times.

Some of our members use regular with no problems.

I believe the majority of members use premium with great results.

In the end, it is up to you. Try each for your style of driving to see what suits YOU. If you ask for a poll, you will receive the myriad results of the myriad personalities/experiances here. Believe in yourself and what you experiance, it is our only "truth".

Many thank all of you for comments

mgthe3 ! No problem; I found this interesting forum and I fall in love this forum right away. we are Murano family and we love murano.

The reason for the question because my MO just 4000 miles and the manual recommended premium. I do not know anything about the engine, I am a driver just pump gas and drive:( . if you guy see any dumb question, please apologize.

I think I will stick with premium ultil $5.00 in Bush 's Gas Station:mad:
