2009 LE with Vibration - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hello All,

I am new to your NissanMurano.org site I am looking for any help that I can get. I just bought a new 2009 Murano LE it has 700 miles on it and I am getting a vibration at speeds from 20 MPH and above. My Murano has been at the dealership for the passed 2 days. At first they called and told me they could not feel the vibration so I drove back 60 mile and went for a test drive with a tech. At this point he told me he felt the vibration. They check the wheel balance and they told me that they drove it again and it's still there. They have a call into Nissan as of yesterday at 4:00 PM, I have not heard from them yet. I trade in a 2006 Murano SL with 30,000 miles on it and I never had any problems with it, that is why I bought the 09. I am so upset I really like this car, but I am not going to have it with the vibration. I have been looking on the internet for any information I can find and it looks like there are a few of us that are having this problem, but I can't seem to find anyone that has had it corrected. Any input anyone can give I would appreciate it.

Looking forward to using this site for many years to come if they fix this problem.
Thanks
Matt

mbe35008nm09,

First, you gotta' tell me what your forum name means. It seems to be some deep, personal cryptic label, but it's just soooo long, at least give me a hint. OK, back to the problem… I also have 09' LE, but have not noticed the vibration that you mentioned, unless it's the door vibration coming from the Bose sub-woofers blasting the satellite radio channel #101 reggae music I listen to. After I drop my daughter off at school, on the way home, I do have three 20 mph school zones that I pass through. I'll shut off the radio tomorrow and try to see if I have the same vibration you mentioned. Anywhere special on the car that you feel it's coming from? I'll let you know tomorrow morning what I find. One question… do you have your rear windows open when you feel it? I've noticed something when the rear window is open at a lower speed, but never pinned it to a specific speed. Take care!

Well Guys here is an update as of 6:30 PM EST. I got a call today at 2:45 PM telling me they fixed the vibration on my 2009 Murano. I asked what did you do??? They had to replace all 4 tires I picked it up at 4:15 and drove it 56 miles home, and I have to say it is 90% better then it was before. I am not sure what pressure they have in the tires so I will check them in the AM when they are cold and see what happens from here. I want to Thank "Lightninrod" for moving my posting up to first on the posting list. I will keep you posted on the other 20% over the weekend. For anyone that is feeling this vibration it is felt when driving at speeds from 20-70 the ride is just not smooth like it should be.

Thanks Again,
Matt - From PA

Matt;
Perhaps you can also let us know what brand and model tires were on there and if they replaced it with the same one.
Thanks.

I had the same problem when I picked up my LE. They checked to make sure all four wheels were in balance which they were. Then they found one of the tires had a broken belt, replaced the tire and wheel and that fixed the problem. They told me that the problem was caused by tightening the tie down chains too tight on the auto carrier truck can break the belt on the 20" tires as the truck goes down the road hitting dips and bumps. Who knows?? That sounds like a possibility, maybe. Anyhow that fixed my problem and I hope it solves your's as well.

One thing that should ALWAYS be done when balance seems to be hard to attain is, get the car into a place that has the Hunter GPS 9700.
Believe me, you don't want your wheels balanced on any other machine.

It has straightened out balancing problems from one end of the spectrum to another.
Check various forums, like BMW or MB, etc

I had my Michelins on my MO Road Forced when bought. Perfect!

Go here for an explanation.
All serious Tire shops have them.
Some dealers too.

Having same issue as you. See posts #330 and forward on the Edmunds.com site here:

Below is part of one of my postings. To try and clarify what it feels like, it's almost as if something is "rumbling" beneath you. The steering wheel doesn't shake, etc., it just always feels like you're riding over a slightly bumpy road - even if on a dead flat freshly paved surface. Is that wha you feel?

Here's a piece of my posting:

Just bought a 2009 LE (4/28/2009) and am experiencing a subtle shake or vibration at almost all speeds above 30 mph. When I test drove one, I mentioned the slight shake to the salesperson (NissanWorld of Springfield, NJ) and he said it was likely that the car was not serviced yet. My 2009 LE exhibited the same shake (almost like you're always riding on a sligtly bumpy road). I brought it back to the dealer on 4/30/08 and drove it with a service tech. He confirmed the sensation and we then drove another LE, which exhibited the same behavior. I'm in the process of contacting Nissan Customer Care and the tech is contacting Nissan tech support to see if thee are any known issues, etc. Could it be the tires? Mine has Toyo 20" Is it the CVT transmission? The service tech said it may be a trans issue. Anybody else experiencing this problem? I love the vehicle - it's perfect in every way - but the ride is not nearly as nice as my 2004 Murano.

Well guys as of today it is still not fixed. I drove it about 60 miles and it still have a vibration at speeds above 40. I just wonder if it could be the CVT. Has anyone felt a shifting like feeling on the new 09 CVT sometimes? I get that feeling when I am going up hill and I let the speed get to 40-42 this vibration is very noticable. It give me a sick feeling in my belly! I don't know if that from knowing that I have to pay for something that is not right, or just the feeling!! I am off to another dealer to drive an LE to see how it drives.

I have an appointment with service manager on Wednesday that was the frist they could see me.

What do you guys/gals think of the CVT?? for those that had a 06 model years my CVT never felt like it was shifting I can't talk about other years don't know if they were the same as my old 06, if I would have know this I would have kept it..

Well I just got back from driving another LE at a dealership closer to home, and it has the same vibration at the 40+mph speed. What is going on? I almost sh@@ when I started down the road and I felt it. Maybe this is something that the new model year is going to do. I know I am not happy with it.
