Has anyone else had issues with lots of other drivers being offended by the brightness of their Xenon low beams? Not sure about the setup of the US versions, but my SE has Xenons, and they are adjustable, at least on low beam, to angle down to accomodate a loaded rear end (I assume this is the reason for the adjustability).
There is a dial to angle the lights down, reducing the glare for oncoming traffic. This severely limits forward visibility for me, however, on dark roads. If I leave the adjustment set to '0', which I assume is the standard low beam setting (ie. properly aimed lights providing maximum lighting/visibility) oncoming traffic is almost always convinced that my highs are on. I don't have a load in the rear end, and the car sits level (no sagging springs or anything of the sort).
If I flash my highs at people, they quickly become aware that my lows were not on, but it is getting more than just a little bit annoying.
Anyone? |

| I have the same set up on my 04 SE AWD. I've not had anyone flash highbeams at me after dark. If I had to guess, I'd say you may want to have yours checked for aim by the dealer (or some shop that knows Murano's). Until then, your switch does have several positions. You could lower your lowbeams from 0 to 1 versus all the way to 3. |

If the lowbeams are properly aimed, you can leave it at 0, and if other drivers don't like it, then thats that.
There is a thread here with the headlight aiming specs (it can be adjusted by the screws on the headlight assembly). |

I'm a firm believer that any HID system MUST have auto-leveling headlights. In fact, I think non-HID systems should have that as well. Count me as one of those people who would most likely be flashing my lights at you.
There are a lot of people out there (with HID and not) that have their headlights improperly aimed. With either system, and especially with HID, you should be able to see the edge of your light pattern on the road in front of you. If you cannot clearly see where your light pattern cuts off, then your lights are aimed too high.
And I'm saying you see that cutoff ON THE ROAD, not projected up on some house in front of you or something. You should see the lighted asphalt in front of you, with a distinct line across the road where it goes from light to dark.
To be honest, when lights are adjusted properly, it should make you think "I wish my lights would shine a bit farther..." |

Actually, I don't think the Mo's HIDs are bright enough. I had a 2004 TSX that had amazing lights.
I've not been flashed at all in my Mo even though it sits up higher, but I was often flashed at when driving my TSX and had to flash back.
I often find myself yearning for more light, often wish the light reached just a bit farther; especially when going downhill on a dark highway, I'd like the see what's up and coming.
I wish the Mo had auto-leveling Xenons as well...
If you find yourself getting flashed at, a temporary fix is like Jim said, adjust to level 1. Then get a dealer to check the headlight level if you're not comfy doing it yourself.
I miss my TSX (for more reasons than the HIDs :( )... |

I first learned about the effect of the adjustability when driving to Florida last fall - fully loaded. When I passed sevaral cars on the interstate, they flashed me - meaning, I assume, that my low beams were hitting their rear view mirrors.
I then used the adjustment to put the cutoff point just below the rear window of the car immediately ahead of me. After that, no more flashing from annoyed drivers - from either direction. |

Penderwheels-
That was very considerate of you. :29:
One of my pet peeves is drivers who either run with high-beams or have those ridiculous aftermarket HID retrofit kits that cannot be properly aimed and end up destroying my night vision.
It is nice to know that there are still some considerate drivers out there on the road.

Thanx NJJOE. I try to be considerate.
Besides, my wife slaps the crap out of me if I drive too agressively |
