I recently had a problem with my 2005 Murano and I am told the transmission needs to be replaced. My questions are, do they need to remove the radiator to get to the transmission? I had an accident a little while ago and the front part is dent a little bit. There is no leak of any sort so far, but the service person told me that they would have to fix that before they can replace the transmission. Mind you, the same person had advised to get it checked after they replace the transmission. Is there a connection? Please help!!
thank you |

My question would be WHY would it have to be repaired before replacing the tranny? You're going to pay them to do one job, not two.
Only thing I can think of is if they are worried that your damaged radiator would cause the new tranny to have a problem, in which case they wouldn't be able to honor the warranty if they knew of an underlying problem, but even that sounds fishy to me.
So my opinion would be that he's just trying to sucker more money out of you.
I'm assuming you're out of warranty? Might want to go get a quote from an independent shop. Call around and see if any will swap out a CVT on a Murano. |

Thanks Corin
It just sounded very fishy to me because he had told me that the transmission will need to be replaced and that they noticed a dent on the front that I might have to get fixed in the future incase it gets rusty and damages the radiator. I agreed. Now they are saying they need to have me get it fixed or have them fix it. They are “worrying’ the radiator might have a hole and the bent mettle could be stopping it from leaking. It has been over a year and I haven’t seen any leak. If it was to leak, I don’t think the mettle would stop it. I still have warranty for the transmission. I am now left with having them fix it, or have my car towed have it checked else where and bring it back for them to replace the transmission. If I say, just fix the transmission, I am afraid they’ll damage it and tell me it was damaged. I can't trust them now. It is so frustrating! |
