I have a 2004 Murano with the Bose stereo and the orange screen. I would like to have the screen continuously display both the CD/Radio information AND the Economy MPG information at the same time.
While driving and playing the CD or Radio, when you press the button to display the fuel economy, the CD information disappears and the fuel economy info appears for a few seconds then the display goes back to just the CD info.
If you do the same thing while the gear shift is in Park, BOTH the CD and fuel info display. Putting the car in gear will cause the fuel info to vanish and just the CD info remains.
Now I don't know about you, but I would much rather have the fuel info on the screen than the music info and I'd prefer to have both. The only way to continuously have fuel economy info display is to turn the radio off.
Does anyone know of a firmware update or secret handshake that corrects this problem? |

fgdavison-
Welcome to the forum.
I do not recall reading about any type of fix that would allow the MP and radio info to be displayed simultaneously while the MO is in motion. It would be nice.

| no answer for the 04, but, the 07 does it and has a real time graph, in color. |

| Never heard of any firmware for this.... kind of odd my 03 does the same. I did find a way that did keep it up for a longer period of time but it would eventually cut the display. I just can't remeber the sequence that would make it stay up longer. Sorry. |

| They must have changed the software sometime by '06? I can bring up the Fuel Economy screen, and it stays up unless I manually change it, while displaying the radio or CD information along the bottom of the screen. |

Thanks for the responses. I didn't really think there would be an easy answer since I had searched the forum for anything related to it.
There was something in the forum about fooling the newer GPS systems into not detecting the car was moving, to allow access to menu selections that are generally unavailable while the vehicle is in motion. The system in my car does seem to know when it is moving in a similar way and I was wondering if that might be a way to approach the problem. |

I was going to suggest the same thing but first you will have to determine what causes the information to disappear from the screen. If the controller for the screen makes that decision, which I belive was the case for the gps issue you mentioned above, then the answer is easy. Find the wire with the speed signal that goes to the back of the monitor and intrupt it via a switch. But if the "decider- :D" is the BCM, then you don't want to mess with the signal because you may be affecting other functions. I am going to have to study my service manual to see if I can figure it out. |

Hey Zeb,
I do know that there is a difference in the DCU's for "Nav" and
"No Navigation" however, the BCM is the same in a MO with or without navigation. The info for fuel etc.. is contained in the DCU the same way for a murano with or without nav. |

| In that case I think all that is needed is to locate the speed signal wire to DCU and put a switch in there. |

Is the speed signal wire the same as speed sense? If so:
03 + 04 - Violet/White @ module below the radio 8000 PPMS
05 - Purple/White (No info listed for location)
06 - 08 - Violet/White @ unified meter and ac amp under the radio
This info was taken from Audiovox's site. Just remember to test your wires. |
