The 07 S Stock Stereo - Click HERE for Original Thread
arawakinha
Hello...
I have an 07 S AWD murano with what I think is the stock stereo (no changer, no Bose). I haven't had any problems with it... I would like to somehow make it display the text associated with a radio station or CD, usually t says track 1, 2, etc. FOr radio stations I only get the station number. Is there any modifications I can get to the stereo that would allow that info to show. I haven't found a thread with this, so I am thinking it's bad.... Please be gentle:) ANy suggestions on the best way to upgrade? I am hoping to go minimal (it ain't broke) I woudln't mind spending some money, but I definitely want to keep all the other display functionalities i have right now. WHat if I found a used Bose model on Ebay? Would that work with the current display and everything.?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

The non-bose radio will display the CD song info when you press the DISP button.

When you refer to the radio station info are you referring to the RDS data? If so, then you need the BOSE head unit.

If you opt to replace your radio with a BOSE unit you will also need to install the seperate BOSE amp that resides under the rear seat.

Thanks! About CD info, I never see any info...CD's only say track 01, track 02, etc. No CD title either. Even if its an original CD. And all radio stations diplay no information at all, only the station number. Not sure what RDS data means. Do you think thats thats a defect in mine? everything is still on warranty... I took it once to the dealership and they said that that was just the way it was with a stock stereo. When I hit the DISP button, nothing happens, unless there's a maintenance warning turned on. In those cases, when I hit the DISP button it goes back to the default settings.

Like I said in my first reply, your stock (non-Bose) radio will not display the RDS data broadcast by FM stations. Only BOSE radios recieve the RDS signals.

You non-Bose radio should display the CD info. I have a 2005 so I can not be 100% certain, hopefully a 2007 non-Bose owner will chime in and verify.

Thanks for your help. Guess nobody chimed in...
What if I found a Bose Stock stereo that was taken from another Murano, to be installed in mine. Would that jive with my Murano´s sound system?... What would it take? WHat about an after market stereo? Are there any manufacturers or models you can recommend?
Thanks again...

If you simply replace your stock head-unit with a BOSE head-unit you will have.... no sound.

The BOSE head-unit is designed to work with the BOSE amp, a seperate component that must be installed in order to generate any sound. The amp is installed under the rear seat.

The BOSE system has different (better ? :8: ) speakers and also has tweeters installed in the dash.

Installing an aftermarket head-unit is not a simple project. A few members have done it. Do a search for additional info.

Your stock speakers will likely perform poorly when paired with the BOSE amp as well. I believe stock speakers are 4 ohm, whereas the BOSE speakers are 2 ohm. This means even if you find a way to install the BOSE head unit, and the BOSE amp, it will only put out half the volume than if you had BOSE speakers.

A less expensive solution would be to wire up an AUX input, and use an Ipod in the car.

The only way I've gotten a 07 non-Bose to display the cd info is to rip the cd then reburn it and include the mp3 file info.

I've never gotten original cd's to show any info.

Very few pressed CD's have any text information. I have about 300 CD's and out of those, I have only found two or three that have the title and track information.

You hit the nail on the head.

Really good info thanks! :D

I would love to be able to hook the ipod to the stereo... I have an 07 Murano with a non-bose stereo... I think I need to find the easiest way to an aux input for the Ipod to plug in. If I buy an adapter as well as the cable, can I make the Ipod info display on the screen, and can I control it from the steering wheel? I should probably get a manual, I can't seem to find the right one on the NIssan site, only the owner's manual... anybody know where I can find a service manual that talks more about the electronics than the owner's manual does?

So, I have been checking out the threads... I see there is an adapter that will allow me touse the SAT input and access it from behind the rear seat? Is this for all Muranos? Can I check to see if my Murano is compatible without removing the head unit? The NissanIpod.com site says if the Ipod is disconnected the SAT comes back. That would be perfect... Where woudl I find a wiring diagram?

Will that work with the basic stereo?
Thanks,
