Murano's gas tank holds 21.7 US gallons of gas. To get 500 miles out of a full tank, all you need to do is average 23.04 miles to the gallon. So for most of us who mostly drive on the freeways it should be doable - Right?
With lot's of drivers slowing down to get better gas mileage, I am wondering if any of you have actually got 500 miles out of a single tank of your Murano before refill. Easier said than done, I think the closest I have ever come to 500 has been 450 miles before I got scared and put more gas in.
BTW, today was my first day of officially joining "slow" people on the road and dropping my speed down to 60 mph, from 65 mph that I had been doing for the past few weeks. I will probably never drive on the fast lane again.....:o
I have to tell you, before the gas situation got so bad, I used to average 75 to 80 mph. This going slow takes a lot of getting used to. In fact, it is even scary at first. But I guess I have to do what I have to do.....:3: |

Most I have done on one tank is 407.5 miles. Averaging 23.4mpg for that tank, so I guess I probably could have made the 500 mile mark if I pushed it! :)
Most likely, though, that was one of my trips across the state, and you don't want it to get TOO low, or you might get stranded! ;) |

| I've *seen* the DTE give me a 500 mile tank (given the miles I've already traveled and the DTE), but I've never been brave enough to try it out. |

I am going to try it with my next tank. Since I now drive 60 mph, I should get better than 24 mpg so we shall see...;)
MurAndo, how is 320 miles close to 500? At 16.7 mpg, even if you use every single drop of the gas in the tank, the best you can do is 362 miles......Oh, I see, you mean you came pretty close to using all of the gas in the tank....At that mpg, you probably still had 2.5 gallons left. I'd say that would be close! |

| 2006 vacations in New Mexico. Drove around Santa Fe. After 280 miles tank was half full and I saw DTE 280. I was averaging 28 mpg...I think elevation and light foot was a contributing factor...oh and I refilled after passing 500 miles on that particular tank. Never was able to repeat it though... |

Assuming you had reset the trip meter when you filled up that tank.....we have a winner......:D
Anyone else? |

I always travel at 100 Kph (61.5 mph) when I am on the highway and find I enjoy the drive better. I have noticed lately , that the right hand lane is more crowded that it use to be. But I guess that is a sign of the times.
I am driving from Calgary to Victoria (1100 Km) for the weekend tomorrow, and I will be doing a test run to see how my fuel economy is at 120,000 Km. I will let you all know what I find. |

I'm finding it AWFUL to drive slower here in big A.
But I do notice that even the fast folks have slowed down.
I will be on vacation in 2.5 weeks (Thank GOD!).
It is I believe 475 miles straight down 75 to Siesta key. I've done it in a Suburban on one tank doing 80.
I'll see what happens at 70 in the Mo, IF I can do it.
Usually beach fever hits me about Tampa and my right foot gets heavier and heavier.
We shall see... |

On several occasions I have brought the tank down to less than 2 gallons. Most recently I had to add 20.3 gallons during a fill-up which means I had less than 1-1/2 gallons left in the tank.
As I have said on many occasions it is relatively easy to get 29 mpg during sedate, highway driving. Earlier today I drive 55 mph for a 100 mile stretch of the GSP and got 29.3 for the trip. 29 mpg on 20 gallons will yield close to 600 miles!! It is definately plausible.

After a fillup and reset of the computer yesterday the ETE read 505 miles....!
Amazingly enough the computer is giving me a lower mpg at 60 mph than it did at 65 mph. Not sure if that is correct or something is wrong with the computer. I am going to keep driving at 60 mph and measure manually. By the way, It is amazing the number of vehicles I pass @ 60 mph..... I think a lot of people have got the memo....:D |

Yeah.......I did it!
Just refilled the tank. Trip meter said 501 miles traveled. 95% of driving was on the freeway at average speed of 60 mph
Put in 19.96 gallons of premium gas to refill to the top. It cost me $93.79 (I found "cheap!" gas at $4.70/gal) - Average MPG according to the computer is 25.1 miles/gal. Manually calculated is also 25.1 miles/gal. Very accurate.
That means I had 1.74 gallons still left, which could have taken me another 43.7 miles.
Gas light came on about 18 miles before I got to the gas station and DTE changed to * at the entrance to the gas station. |

Congratulations! 500 miles!! 25.1mpg is just phenomenal. |

Just got back from the coast and have recorded the following:
Calgary to Victoria 1050 KM
Mo averaged 8.8Lts/100 KM @100 KPH
Cost of fuel average/liter $1.45 CDN =$5.46/ USGAL
Total liters used 95 liters
8.8 Lts/100 KPH equals 33.5 MPG (Imperial Gallon =4.5 liters)
At 8.8 Lts/100 KM showed up as 26.2 MPUSGALS on the Mo computer. The drive out was over two mtn ranges and the temp was at 20C.
Was very happy with whole trip as the Mo was at 120,000KM the only reason it took just over 11 hours instead of the nomal 10.5 was the road constuction in lower mainland before the ferry. |

Way to go!! :claphead:
Not only did you join the 500-mile club you also almost become a member of the $100-fill-up club. :3: The former is a badge of honor, while the latter is a sign of disgust.

My gas station has a limit of $100 per fill up. As price went up to almost $1.40 per liter, I have to use my CC twice to fill up
Last fill up hit me at $100 + 11 CAD. :1: |
