I'd like to replace my brake lights because they are burnt out and I just don't know how to get to them..i thought there should be a panel i need to remove like the other cars i own but for the 2005 Nissan Murano its different...can someone help me out...pictures would be nice or instructions on how to remove the burnt out light....the stupid dealership is charging me $60 for them to remove and install the bulb..im like HELL NO i ain't paying that much..thats just ridiculous..

its not actually burnt out..but when i press the brake the left tail light goes on but the right tail light does not go on...but its constantly on when i don't press the brake...what is the problem????

BTW does the middle part of the Tail Light suppose to light up when I switch on my lights at night? I swear they should be on because I've noticed that both left and right are out when switched on at night...example: Left Tail Light: 3 layers right? ON OFF ON...i thought ALL 3 suppose to be on

The 2006 MO has LED brake lights. I doubt very much that they are "burnt out".

Have you checked the fuse?

Your PM indicated that the brake light is "not actually burnt out..but when i press the brake the left tail light goes on but the right tail light does not go on...but its constantly on when i don't press the brake..."

In that case I do not suspect it is the fuse, because I would think both sides would be out.

When you turn OFF the parking lights is the right TAIL light still on?

If your's was a 2005 MO I would say the brake lamp was burnt out, but the LEDs in your 2006 MO's lamp assembly should outlast the MO. In fact they should be good for at least 10,000 hours, which equates to burning constantly for a 14 month period.

I do not have a 2006 service manual so I am at a loss on this one. Hopefully one of the 2006-2007 owners can provide some guidance.

If the picture you posted is from your car, you don't have a 2006 MO! US and Canada 2006 have LED tail lights and that is not a picture of LED light.

One cause of a brake light on one side staying on when you don't hit the brake pedal, and going off when you do, is a ground problem at the light. I have also seen this happen when a replacement bulb is installed incorrectly into the socket.

Here is the removal and installation instructions for 2003 through 2005 MO tailights.

Good catch! :4:

I totally missed the obvious.

Like my dad was fond of saying... I missed the forest because of the trees.

The bulb has two filaments one of when the brakes are pressed the other for when the parking lights are on which would explain why it works when the brake pedal is not pressed.

It is possible that the bulb could burn out early.... manufacturing process are not perfect or maybe your girl friend rests her foot on the brake :p

I am sure if you replace your bulb your MO will be happy again.
