| I need some help in correcting the code P0420. The definition is a "catalyst efficiency low bank 1". My question is, do I need to replace the catalytic converter on bank 1 or should I look further for another problem. The printout I have, list 3 possible issues 1) engine misfire, 2) vacuum leak, 3) engine oil leakage into exhaust. I have 123000 miles so it could be the plugs need repalcing. I also have noticed a clanging noise that I have not been able to pinpoint. Could this be the catalyst melted and rattling in the converter? Any advice would be appreciated. Miffed....... |

My guess would be dead cats... do you smell more sulfury smell out of your exhaust ?
Plus... if you haven't replaced your plugs in 123000 miles it might be time anyway. |
