| I've found a great deal on a murano but there is no gps/rear view camera. I wouldnt mind having a gps since its expensive anyway but i really want a back up camera. I was wondering if it was possible to install a back up camera into the existing lcd component? or could i just buy one of those 7inch lcd back up cameras, and replace it with the lcd in the murano. |

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully you will join us; with a MO!
I have added a dash mounted GPS unit and love it. It is a Garmin 250W and it is so intuitive to use and does a fabulous job for a measly $225.00!
As for a back-up camera; why do you need one? How do you intend on using it?
I have an aftermarket one that is mounted to my licence plate bolts that I use only for hooking up my trailer to the hitch. Works perfectly and I can hook up in one shot! It costed me $99.00 and is wireless to a 3.5 inch colour monitor I keep in my armrest compartment.
If I didn't have a trailer to hook up almost daily; I would have done away with a camera. I always look out my back window and use my mirrors for any rear-ward driving. Keeps me flexible:D |

Hope you join us too. What year Murano are you talking about? If it comes with the color screen, then there are ways to feed composite video into it. I forget what the device is called but several members here have used it to hookup DVD players to their screens. I assume the same thing can be used to feed GPS feed (some GPS units have aux outputs.
I personally like BikerJohn's solution. It is functional, easy to install, and relatively inexpensive. |

lilxmonky-
Back-up cameras are over-rated.
Don't let the absence of a back-up camera affect your decision.

I knew I would get heat for this....:1pat:
Just so I can explain; the camera was beside me on the passenger seat and it was a point and shoot. There was nobody beside or behind me at a very quite time on the highway.
However; you are correct. At least I wan't on the phone:D |

If you want it to be a bit more seamless, pick up a cheap camera that you can power off the reverse lights. Then you can use the TvandNav2Go solution to get video into your screen. They have a cable to tie to your reverse signal to activate the screen input. The video box will cost 175, and I'm seeing cameras for around 40. It's a bit more expensive, but you don't have another screen in your glovebox. |

| Thank you everyone for your advice! i will be getting an 04 murano SL. The only reason i want a back up camera is for tight parking in the city, where space is limited. I do like bikerjohn's solution, which is cheap and functional but i don't really like the fact that i have to keep a spare screen just hanging around in the car. I also like jkster107 idea of the TvandNav2go but im still unsure how that works out because isn't the factory screen on the murano not a color screen? If you can give me more details on how that works that would be great. Thank you all again. |

Ah. You're looking at a MO with an orange screen? Yeah, the TVandNav2Go is definitely only for the MOs with the color screen.
If you're interested in getting a GPS unit for your dash, you might look into the unit that Mr3Putt posted in the Steals and Deals section. It has the wireless camera functionality built into the GPS unit, which is pretty slick. |

| 03 and 04 Muranos without NAV have the orange screen. You cannot use that screen for anything other than the OEM stuff. To add back-up camera, you will have to install a separate screen. |
