I have my OEM plastic grille sitting in my garage, and another forum member would like to buy it from me.
I went down to "The UPS Store" to see how much it would be. They generally have high prices, but they'll package it all up and ship it for you which saves me a lot of hassle and time. HOWEVER, they quoted me $108 for the shipping portion, and $60 to package it. WTF? I didn't realize their prices would be THAT high...
You can get a NEW one from eNissanParts.com for $141 + $12.95 shipping.
Considering those prices, I don't mind spending the time to package it up myself, but does anyone know how much it should be to ship if I go directly to UPS or Airborne Express, or whatever?
It's not heavy (2 lbs maybe?) but long. |

| If you put it in your own box, you can ship it via the normal US Postal Service for much much less. Perhaps the odd size of the grille (and your lack of packaging) is why it costs so much. I find USPS Priority Mail and Express Mail much more reliable than UPS or Fedex. |

When Gripperdon offered his old grill to me, he had the shipping priced at about $45, which included packaging. But that was from AZ to CA.
I have an account with both UPS and Fedex. Give me the dimensions of the box and I will be more than happy to calculate what it would cost to ship it with either carrier. |

I estimate the box dimensions to be:
60"x12"x20" |

| Might also be helpful with zip codes. |

60"? Thats huge. I bet the grille could fit diagonally in a 36" box. |

DAMMIT! Geometry comes back to haunt me!
Yes, as a matter of fact it seems it will fit in a 30"x30"x30" box.
But again, pricing that out on ups.com still shows me a cheapest price of $149. Fedex is $117.

I meant I bet it would fit in a 36"x12"x12" box, and possibly even 36"x12"x6" since hte grille isn't that thick. The grille is not *that* big! And just use USPS (the Postal Service, not UPS) - its way cheaper. |

Corin those shipping quotes are through the roof. Here's one on Ebay that the guy is selling for $72 delivered. Buy his and reuse his box and carrier and you'll have an extra grill, free box plus $50 in your pocket. Re reading his description...
"Shipping and Handling: $20.00 S&H for Domestic US 48 states via UPS ground with tracking number. ($10.00 for shipping and $10.00 for handling and packing.) " |

| Give FedEx-Ground(green) a try. They are a different company of the FedEx(orange). It may work out better for you. USPS is also a good alternative. |

Grille is around 55" in length (tip to tip), and it's curved, so I don't think it will fit in a 12x6 box, doubtful of a 12x12 even. |

Didn't realize it was that big. I guess yeah, you will need a long box. Can you ship it just wrapped in plastic? |

OK, interesting. I put in your numbers on ups.com and got what you got. If you up just the last dimension to 20 instead of 12 (so 60x20x20 instead of 60x20x12) then the price jumps up dramatically to minimum of $136.
Guess I just need to figure out exactly what dimensions work out best that still let it fit... |
