| OK we bought an 04 and the Nissan dealer said they had changed the oil but we never saw any proof of it. So my wife took it to a oval castrol quick change place and had it done which they also reseted the maintaince reminder and that's it. Wife tells me she thinks it is diving better I thought ok whatever but then I drove it last night and it is completely different. I mean I had posted a post on the Altima coupe forum about how different the throttle reasponce is in the two cars and figured it was just the fact of me not being used to the AWD (I was actually paranoid over the CVT after reading post here) but now the throttle reasponce is great and it has so much more pick up. Anyone know the cause of this surely a simple oil change couldn't have done this. Was she in "limp" mode and it took it out of limp mode when reseting he maintaince reminder. I mean WTF does this place do miracle oil change that adds 50hp :). I know you will squeeze a couple of ponies out with clean oil but this is like night and day. |

The MO's maintenence reminder has no effect on the performance whatsoever. The reminder is not linked to the engine management computer.
Personally, I always feel like my cars have more power and run smoother after an oil change. However, I realize this condition is percieved and not actual. Any increase in power after an oil change is miniscule. You would not be able to feel it.
Did the quick-lube joint replace your air filter? That could have a noticable impact on performance.

I know I shouldn't notice any difference but that is why I'm freaked out about it. I was thinking the same thing with the air filter but he reciept just says they checked which I did also when I bought it. I'm wondering if they could have lubed the bearings by chance. It has always had good power just kinds feels like a boat that has a anchor partially in the water still. |

What bearings?
If it wasn't the air filter then maybe it was the tires. It is possible the tires were severely under-inflated and by adding air the MO handles better and feels sportier. Or, it may just be your imagination.
