I have an '05 SE and I'm experiencing the "front axle click" syndrome.
I have searched and read posts on this and I know I'm supposed to apply lubricant (molykote 77).
I'm just not sure if I'm supposed to apply it to the front axle splines, or the actual insides of the CV joints? |

I have two questions for you...
1) How many miles are on your mo?
2) Are the boots protecting your CV joints torn, ripped, or broken at the creases?
Depending on your answers, it may be possible your CV joints are on their last leg and in need of replacement.

Dont know much about the MO yet. but usually if you are hearing this noise especially while turning the boots have previously gone bad allowing dirt into the cv joint. This cause the bearing to get "sanded" down now causing the bearing to pop out and back in place when turning eventually they will pop all the way out leaving the axle spinning with out spinning the wheels.
I'm curious to learn more of this other issue also. |

My MO has 58000Kms (36000Mi).
I just checked the CV boots and they seem to be in good condition. I spread them to check for cracks and it looks o.k.
The click sound happens as I put the car into gear, or just as I touch the gas pedal. |

OK, in that case it looks like you need to have Service Bulletin NTB07-093 performed on your MO.
It requires that you apply Molykote M77 grease to the front wheel drive shaft bearing surfaces. The service bulletin also notes that the axle nut is to be tightened to 92 foot-pounds (the old spec was 147 foot-pounds).

CORRECTION: The torque spec for the axle nut is 147 ft-lbs (not 92) as per the Service Bulletin. Updated 01/05/09
Thanks to zebelkhan for pointing out the error. |

Hello,
I have the gold level extended warranty (5 year, 100,000). My question is, would the ntb07-093 service bulletin be covered?
I talked with my dealership today, and they said it wouldn't be.. |

You have posted this very same question in three different threads within minutes of each other. I would think once is sufficient.
I have provided an answer in one of the other threads.

I just noticed it is the other way around. New spec is 147 ft-lb |
