I've noticed some light 'feathering' on just the two front tires only on the very outside tread blocks.
Anyone else experience this? Know what might cause it?
My Nissan dealership told me it's probably just the tires not an alignment issue or anything else. |

Yep.
IF the OP knows what feathering is (As compared to cupping for instance)

Your dealer told you it is probably just the tires? Well, your dealer is probably full of cr@p.
If the sharp edges on both tires are pointed to the center of the your MO, the cause is toe-in.
If the sharp edges on both tires are pointed toward the outside if your MO, the cause is toe-out.
If the sharp edges point in on one tire and out on the other tire, the cause is rear axle misalignment.
Since this is most likely not a warranty issue, I would avoid the dealer and take your MO to a reputable mechanic.

The 'feathering' i'm seeing is felt as sharper edge tread blocks if you run your fingers along the tread blocks from front to back of the tire. But if you go from back to the front it feels fine.
I was thinking of rotating them to see what happens?
Could it be a suspension part worn out?
I actually dont understand why the dealership would lie about it - they could at least get an alignment out of me? |

Had this problem on my 04 when new. Noticed at the first oil change. After complaining 3 times and after they "said" they did an alignment. A very good tech found the answer on my next complaint visit. There was a bent strut that prevented the car from being aligned. He could not get the car in specs.
I challenged Nissan that they delivered the car that way to me since I noticed it when still brand new and they replaced it. No more feathers and absolutely alignment.
