| Has anyone else had this problem with their murano? I just got my 2004 and it started having a clicking sound when driving or turning. I'm not sure what it is. Is this something I should get checked out really soon? I cant hear the noise with windows up only when down. |

My first thoughts would be failing CV joints.
How many miles are on your MO? Are the CV joint boots torn or seperated at the creases?

The CV joint is the flexible joint that transmits the engine's power to the front wheels. It is located just inboard of the front wheels.
Did you buy it through a dealer or was it a private transaction? If it was the former, did the dealer offer any type of warranty?
Wow, only 32,000 miles on a 4-year-old MO. That's extremely low mileage.

Yes it is something you should get checked out really soon.
I agree with joe, it is likely the CV joints. If the boot is torn or just degraded, it doesn't hold the grease in and allows dirt and grit to get into the CV joints. Sometimes they can just be cleaned, regreased, and new boots put on.
But if the CV joints must be replaced, it's pretty big deal ($) and something you don't want to ignore.
Sounds like a clean car otherwise. Congrats.

Does the noise come mainly when you turn in one direction and not the other? In other words, it makes the noise when only turning left and not right. If this is the case, its likely a worn CV joint due to a cracked CV boot. How do you figure out which CV joint is bad? Well your mechanic can look at it and tell you, but its a good bet it is the CV joint that is on the opposite side of the direction of turning. For example, if you turn left, you load up the right side of the suspension, and it would cause that joint to make the noise.
If you get a clicking/clacking noise when going straight, the problem can be a worn front strut mount.
If you get the CV joint replaced, it might be cheaper to get an entire axle halfshaft which has a preassembled CV joint/boot on it. |

yes it happens when going straight and when turning. Its an automatic but it seems to happen more when going in slow speeds like 1st or 2nd gear would be if it were manual. if I give it more gas and the engine has a little more power i dont hear the clicking much.
Should I take this to a general nissan mechanic? It was a used car dealership it has a 3000 mile warranty from the dealership. |

| If you still have the warranty from the used car dealership, take it there. Otherwise, take it to a good independent shop for assessment. |

| I had the same problem. Clicking/creaking under accel/deccel. Dealer greased axles and problem fixed. The dealership said "it's a really common problem" |
