| My "Service Engine Soon" indicator light comes on and stays on. I am just below 36k miles. Is this something that might be covered under warranty? |

Take it in let it be there problem :D. It should most defiantly be covered under the 36,000 mile warranty. |

| I also want to mention that my car was in a front end collision in 2006. It was repaired thru Progressive. I've returned it to their shop several times since for this that and the other. Just recently they replaced the motor mounts. Not long after that the "SES" light came on. I'm wondering if they may have caused the issue. Any thoughts on that? |

I doubt it. Failed motor mounts would not trigger the SES circuit.
It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap or an engine misfire.
Since your MO is still under warranty I would let your dealer handle it.

Agreed...
The 36K miles warranty is bumper to bumper. Take full advantage of it! |

Definitely. I will take it in to the dealership.
Also, my battery seems to be going dead. It was replaced in 09/2006 after the accident. It's a Nissan battery (7-year battery) that is only lasted 2 years. Added distilled water to it, but not making any difference.
Thank you both for your suggestions. Let me know if you have any more. |

The nissan batteries only last a few years. My MO is an 04 and I just had to replace my battery.
Go with a DuraLast Gold series battery. The MO is rated for 640CCA but I suggest you get at least 1 or 2 steps higher than that.
Good luck! |

| Bankston Nissan Dallas found the "service engine soon" problem when they ran a diagnostic. There was a loose wire in the harness-- wasn't connected securely. They pointed the finger at the insurance repair work, but Bankston went ahead and located the wire and reconnected it and charged me NOTHING. As for the battery, they said it was "gone". Needed a new one. The replacement cost me $55 (prorated). Not bad. |

Not bad?? $55 is not a bargain. You had a 7-year battery that failed after only 26-months and Nissan charged you $55?!?
Sears has a 7-year battery and they replace it for free if it fails within three years.
Interstate has a 7-year battery and they replace it for free if it fails within 2-1/2 years.
Duralast has a 7-year battery and they replace it for free if it fails within two years. The prorated cost for a failure at 26 months would have been (26/84)x$70=$22!!
Leave it to your Nissan dealer to screw you on a prorated warranty.

| But, they did diagnose the indicator light for me. I guess that's worth something. This is a lease car that I plan to give back in 6 months. I didn't want to purchase a "good" battery for that reason. :) But, thank you for the battery info as we have another vehicle that I'm sure will need another battery within the next year. |
