My wife's 2004 Murano (2-Wheel dr.40,000 miles) always made a little squeak on the driver's side front wheel. The dealer was informed about this many times but never could stop it. Now that the car is out of warranty suddenly they can diagnosis it! - "broken motor mount" was what I was told.
First off - would that cause a squeak? and secondly, is this common? This car has not been driven hard - still on the first set of brakes even. thanks -dayll |

If you have history that states this issue was present before the warranty then they should fix it under warranty. Plain and simple!
Don't let them talk you in to opening your wallet.
I'm not sure if motor mounts are a major issue with MO's. My electric motor mount is starting to go. There are others in this forum that have had issues with their motor mounts as well. |

Common? Starting to get that way, check this thread for my tale.
Squeak? Did not have that, my liquid in the mount dripped all over the garage floor though.
Here, take a look:

Since the standard Nissan drive train warranty (which certainly could be extrapolated enough to cover engine mounts) is 5 years, 60K miles, you're still within it.
And, as with the driver's seat problems that a few people have reported, bad engine mounts don't seem to be common enough to warrant a recall. Are there even TSB's for these items?
As with any other consumer complaint, the few people with problems will always come to these sites with their tales of woe. Believe me, if I was having the same problems I'd be detailing them out here as well. But I'd guess that the vast majority of Mo owners are out here happily driving around with neither broken seat nor bad engine mount problems. |

| Unfortunately I don't think the powertrain warranty covers the motor mounts. Those aren't actually part of the engine. But the post above is correct - if you had this issue documented within the warranty period, the dealer should honor it. If not, call 1-800-NISSAN1 and file a complaint. |

Yup, that's what I had been told, not Power-train. I was under 5 years and 60K but had to suck it up..... *sigh*

| Thanks for the replies regarding the motor mounts-interesting. The dealer quoted me near $400 for the fix. I will look for tomorrow for old work orders documenting my 'squeak' complaint but another question is what if i just ignore the broken mount? The car is just used for short trips around town. ah-I'm being too cheap - never mind - I'll get the darn thing fixed! thanks - dayll |
