What does Service Alert do? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have not looked hard enough in the manual yet, but what does the built-in "Service Alert" do on the Murano?

I have not had it suggest anything yet - although it is turned on.

Is it just a dumb mileage tracker that suggests an oil-change every 7500 miles? Or does it use parameters such as Miles Driven, Speed, Braking etc. and suggest when to go in for a particular kind of service?

You said it, it is: "a dumb mileage tracker ";)

Yeah its for people who do not keep track of car maintenance, and lets you set a mileage interval as an alarm for when an oil change is due. I think Nissan ships the vehicles from the factory with the number set at 7500, but the dealership resets it to 3000 in order to get into their service bay more often.
