Awesome price and really great customer service.
I think they were 15 shipped.
Forgot to mention how scratched up my arms were after doing the passenger side fog light. It was a real pain in the @$$. |
|
|
| Halo |
Yep, I think I STILL have scars from that. I decided when I finished that if that one burns out, the bumper is coming off next time!

Ha, ha...............I know exactly what you mean......
I actually pulled entire lamp assembly. I found it much easier to do it that way. |

Looking sweet!
I hate the dreaded fog light replace...can almost picture the japanese engineers laughing when the looked at those blueprints |

| I am 6'2" but not that large, however I can seem to get the passenger fog lamp out or remove the bulb. I removed the front splash gaurd that is in front of the wheel AND I CAN see a bolt head at the bottom of the lamp HOUSING, If I can ever get that out will that RELEASE THE FOG LAMP? WHAT else is there to do? Really appreciate some help. Thanks Grip :D |

| If you remove the bolt (I thought it was at the top, but it's been a while), you can push the lamp assembly foreward out through the bumper. It has pawls and offers quite a bit of resistance, but it does snap out. Be ready to catch it! |

| I thought it was suppossed to be on top also, but I can't see one there or feel it either, Has me in a stew and as an old fart my rotor cuff is killing me. |

| I GOT ! Just tried the Syvania Silverstars and the Hyper Whites from American Auto Accessories. THe Hyper Whites are the better of the two and much cheaper. HOWEVER neither one come close enough to the HID OEMS from Nissian that came with the MO. Got to look for higher Temps. Suggestions? Grip :D |

Finally bought some FOG LAMP BULBS AGAIN! Hope that 3rd time is the charm. This web site has a overwhelming supply of bulbs and the best prices I have seen. http://www.intakeone.com/Lighting/headlight_index.html
I ordered the KYO 4500K , 9006 let you know. GRIP :D |

I am finally happy with my FOG lamps, the KYO's in standard wattage at 4500K are to ym eye perfect, GRIP, GRIP, HURRAY :2:
I have replaced them so many times I have even developed a method so I can do the passerenger side in snap. |
|
|

| Aren't you worried that the KYO bulbs you got will be too hot (80 watts)? |
|
|
| GripperDon |
| NOPE got the standard version Superbean EX at 55W. Grip :D |
|
|
| Centurion |
| Right, I didn't notice those. Are they brighter than the Hoen fogs? |
|
|
| GripperDon |
| Probably not, but I chose them for color balance with the HID headlights. For some reason I got determined to get a really great color match. In general keeping the wattage constant and sticking with tungnestn (sp) filaments, raiseing the color temp will actually reduce the lumance. In this case I was only going up a few hundred degrees K, so I would guess the effective brightness is less than 8% different, hard to see but the color is easy to see. Since the construction of the lamp housing etc is not plastic the 80Watters may be OK for the lamp, maybe even for the surronding. I really don't know.Grip :D |

| After having lived with them a while I am going to go for the higher watt bulds about 12 more watts, Touching the Fog Lamp housings and the area around them after a long time being on makes me feel comfortable. I sure wish I could change the optics to get a narrow beam out of them so they could be a driving light not a fog lamp. GRIP :D |

Hey Guys'
I need help. I got to the fog lamp. Do you unclip the connector? If yes, how. Do you turn the bulb with the connector attached? I see the bolt on top of the housing but with the connector attached it probably won't come out. |

It's OK Guys,
I figured it all out. Now can someone suggest a good first aid cream for my arms.
The Hoen fogs look great. Now the city lights look really amber. Too bad Hoen didn't have them in stock. I think I'll go with the Piaa bulbs for the city lights. |

Hey Grip,
Have you changed out your fog lights to the KYO's in your new MO? If so, are the bulbs a close match to the Xenon color.....I need to do something...The fogs look bad along side the Xenons.

YES I DID. I am very satisified with the KYO's color wise, they IMHO are better than the Silverstars and that includes the Oshram.
HOWEVER (somebodys favorite word, who was that masked man?) Since I am going to add the Driving Lights with a change in the H3's to brighetr and a higher color temp, I am going to add Ion Yellow to the Fogs for better Fog color like the Lexus is doing. MoPar is going to buy a Set Of OShram Silverstars I still have in the box
If You want a deal on the KYO's You can have them Shipped for 1/2 price, I have the origional clear plastic case. Probalbly been used 2 hours MAX! If not, fine also and I do love the color best I found 4500K. Not to blue and a good match for the HID. |

From what I have read, theoretically a yellow fog light should be better, but most optics experts say it makes little difference. The yellow fogs on the GS are a cosmetic item, if they really did perform better, we would see them on every Lexus (including the more expensive LS430). The 1st gen ES300 had yellow fogs as well, but were replaced with conventional white bulbs. |

ErickL Long ago and far away when I lived in England, all the Fogs were yellow. So it will be a neat thing to do.
And Don't hold your breath on the 06's this is a keeper. Search out my list of previous rides ans you will see I am a real auto nut.
I worked in the Auto industry so long on everything from sound canceling mufflers, to Diesel fuel injectors and a dozen items in between That I just can't help myself. I did like it when Masarati, Ford, GM, Allied and Bendix were buying the vehicles for me, One year I had so many cars that I got a letter form THE DMV asking if I was in the used car business. |

| OK TOmorrow, MOpar put his on the thread HID don't shine far enough. Mine will look very similar but my bulbs are the 5000K as compared to normal color. |
|
|
| MOpar |
Just change my fogs to 9006 Silver Stars, better than stock but still
a bit warmer than HID's. Changeover lots easier than reported.
20 mins total for first try. Removing housing is the trick. Also
added PIAA Plasma Ion 168's to the parking lamps, nice yellow. |
|
|
| GripperDon |
| Like that method Aye! :D |

MOpar,
I installed the Piaa 168 in extreem white. I found that the OEM bulbs looked too dim and brownish. Are the Ion bulbs bright yellow or more amber? |
|
|
| MOpar |
| The PIAA Plasma Ion's are fairly bright yellow (Lexus yellow) for 168's, tried but could not find any stronger but am satisfied with these. |
|
|
| MOpar |
ps if you just want brighter you can use
923 11 watts 500 hours
912 11 watts 1000 hours
921 18 watts 1000 hours
921LL 18 watts 1800 hours
I tried but they looked like another headlight to oncomming traffic,
besides I like the yellow.
I haven't seen the Xtreem whites (5 watts) so I can't compare.
Not sure about the extra heat of higher wattage. |
|
|
| Centurion |
| No I wasn't thinking of brighter. I agree that they should not look like a second headlight. The extreem white bulbs are closer in colour to the xenons. I think that the parking lights should be different than the xenons, but the OEMs were just too dull and faint looking. |
|

| MOpar we have to meet for lunch and let me "see" the finished product. |

Wanted to thank everyone for the advice. Got my Hoen's (fog and parking) installed yesterday, and they look beautiful!!! :)
Finally can drive around with my fogs, since I refused to do it when they were yellow.
It's the little things in life!

| Funny I went the other way and added Yellow Bulbs to get a ton more yellow for the fogs. GRIP :D |
