Hey Everyone. Just installed Chrome Rocker panels and Hoen XenonMatch Fogs on my Murano last nite.

Total time 1hr for everything.

Results are AWESOME!

The Rocker panels sit flush to the bottom of the car and really dress up the exterior of the Murano...along with the chrome door handles on my black MO..the Chrom rockers look HOT.

The Fogs a re big improvement..going with the advice of peope on the board, i went with the Hoen brand and i am really happy with the results...now i have to change the parking lights since they look really dirty next to the headlights and the fogs.

Got the Rocker panels at www.4x4parts.com
fogs at www.Hoen-usa.com

I will be posting pics at some point today after i wash my MO.

for a total of $310....these are exterior improvements that EVERY MO SHOULD HAVE!!

stay tunes for the pics.
HwnMurano
Very Cool, or should I say... Hot!

Did you stick with the factory specified wattage on the Xenon fog, or are you using something brighter. How much for the fog bulbs?

Thanks!
HwnMurano
By the way, I can't wait to see the rocker panel pics!
DeLuc05
the fogs were $37 with shipping..i think the model # was 9006

The rocker bars were $280 shipped..and well worth it.

supposed to rain tonite and early tomorrow, so hopefully i will be able to wask her up and take pics soon to show you guys....i wi ll try to get some pics of the fogs tonite too...

A search on this board with show you the fogs also.

See this thread for pics of my old hoens
cant wait to see the rocker bars...may be my next purchase.

I'm Anxious to see them too. Although I am awful fond of the Nerf Bars. Rocker Bars might just be understated enough to make the MO look really sharp without the "In Your Face" bling bling of the Nerf Bars:blingblin

Just ordered the rocker panels from 4x4 parts last week. Can't wait for them to arrive. Hopefully this order comes in. Waited 6 weeks for roof rails and they wouldn't have shipped for another 5 weeks, so I changed order to the rocker rails. Will post pics when I finally receive them. (4x4 is only 5 miles from house, but they don't have a brick/mortar storefront...d'ang)

next thing for me is gonna be the tinted tails..i love the look of those, and when i am away on my Honeymoon in July, i will have then sent out and back to me by the time i get home....should be hot once those are done!
Eric L.
Do you have any close ups of the rocker panels? Looks good from afar in the picks you have posted so far.
dmako
Any drilling required, or it's it a bolt on to existing holes?
DeLuc05
No drilling required, it comes with brackets that go into existing holes....literally a 10minute job for each side.
mgthe3
looks GREAT!
:D
midnitexpress
Do they help hide the exhaust? That's the real reason I've ordered them. If they don't then will still install but will find out about getting a custom exhaust made. Really a sore spot with me and the only thing that really irks me about the MO.
DeLuc05
I agree...the exhaust is the ONE thing that i hate about the MO....something that almost made me not get one.

In fact, it does help hide the exhaust, but not totally....definetly helps though....
the only way to get rid of that is to take out the muffler and have a custom straight pipe welded in it's place.

The rocker panels are great though...i had 2 people at Lowes ask me about them today...just happened to be parked next to 2 MO's

Looks really good. Very Understated. :29:

It looks fantastic on the black (and other dark colors too, I presume)! I don't think it would look as good on mine tho (glacier pearl). You did a wonderful job.

Hoen is the best way to go guys. Andreas at Hoen has setup a discount site for the MDXers that I helped to start. This is the site, please order from here, we will be adding more bulbs to the list soon.

Just put my rocker bars on this afternoon. Really sets of the look of the MO. Gives it that little extra something. Real easy...in fact, too longer for me to get the protective wrap off them then to install them. Note: If you do this, don't leave the brackets out in the sun for too long. I had to put them under the faucet to get them cool enough to handle. Was 86 in Ft. Laud. today.

Now if I can just find a company to chrome the OEM front push bar, I'll be all set.
Boobaba
Had these installed (by me) 3 months ago.

The Nerf bars really shine....

Looks really sweet. Looks like you've got one up on the RX330 in the wheel department. I love the Nerf bars. Did the RX330 come with them, or did you put those on as well?

The bars on the '330 were dealer installed, we bought the '330 just as u see it. The wife saw this in the show room and fell in love with the look.
:3: I wanted her to get a glacier pearl MO.
She don't like the bling affect of the wheels,
says i'll get hurt if I change her OEM rims :twak:
Chris03HD
Are those 19" ULTRA Hotschott's? I had them in 22", and look very similar.

Nice :)
Boobaba
Those are Foose "Spank 5"- 18" wheels with the OEM tires.
I live in the city and was terrified of changing the ride, so I kept the original tire/wheel size.

DOH! I shoulda known that! (:smack: )

Look in my sig, thats the Spank6 in 24" on my HD..

Looks good either way man~! :)

The rocker panels look sweet. I like how they are not sidesteps, since on a Murano its pretty low anyways and the sidesteps would probably just get my pants muddy rather than help me get in or out of the car.
HwnMurano
Boobaba,

Thanks for posting some really nice pics of your nerf bars. Looks great!

No mud here chief!

My kids use it to climb in. The bars don't get in my way at all, nor does my pant leg rub on them.

Yeah i noticed YOUR wheels when I first seen your truck.........

i'm very impressed with those pictures of the rocker bars - droll droll - i noticed the wind deflector on the sun roof - do they significantly cut down on wind noise as in do they allow you to drive at highway speeds with the sun roof open without a lot of wind noise? - cj
midnitexpress
the wind deflector makes a huge difference with wind buffeting. I always hated the look of that bulge on roofs, but this is definitely one of the more useful accessories. IMHO. Even helps when only have the rear windows and roof open. (Normally pretty bad buffeting).
beemer-biker
Ok, ok, I give up. First off, the rocker panels look great.
Now, for the part I give up on. I can't seem to find the section in 4x4.com's website that has these available. I looked under "Armor" and "Rocker panel", but nothing for the MO is listed. Where do I look? Help please!
midnitexpress
got to the search window and type in Murano
VG.
Boobaba... you and I think a lot alike!!

I can't decide which one I like better... the RX or the MO!
Boobaba
For me, I like the way the Mo handles better than the '330.
The '330 has too much roll on turns, but has a really "soft ride" and not too much road feedback. The wife loves it though.
I get better gas milege on the MO also.
Do you notice this as well??

Still, both cars are awesome.................way to go BRO!
VG.
Yea, I get around 20-21 MPG all the time and she gets around 15-18 MPG.

I also noticed how much sportier the MO feels in the corners, but the wife really likes the more cushy ride of the RX. Had we been able to find one with the air suspension, we may have gotten it. I hear that putting it all the way into "Sport" mode makes the car corner like a sports coupe!

Overall, I love both cars for different reasons. Mine is so much fun to drive (and even look at!) and hers is really luxurious and turns just as many heads!:D

You did pretty well yourself! ;)
jaak
Hmm Interesting....

My wife's telling me she may be able to get out of the company car (Taurus) and she keeps saying she wants a Murano. I keep telling her she wants a 350Z and she can drive my Murano. (Heh heh heh...) The RX is nice too, though! I have a neighbour with one, and they love it.
jaycen29
boobaba, can you tell me what brand your nerf bars are and where you got them? Thanks.
sheersilver
Those chrome rocker panels are tight! I'm curious though, can they be removed (i.e. stolen) easily?
Boobaba
Hey buddy, did you ever find and install the NERF bars??
If you haven't.....eBay has a sh!t load of them for around $200+.
The install is very easy if your handy with tools. The directions were crappy but again if your handy, you can muddle your way thru it.
If you need assistance, let me know.
GripperDon
Hello DeLuc05 did you do the tinted tails?? would love more info and a pic if you did it. thanks Grip :D

The nerff bars on your MO look really cool. I am thinking of getting a set (had to trick the wife to think that it was going to prevent parking lot dents! :D I like the one you have but can't tell if the ones on e-bay are like yours. Are they?
jaycen29
Z,
I bought mine from E-Bay, they are the Aries brand. I have to admit the bars are not very functional on the MO, I dont think I have ever used them to get in and out but I really like the look of them. Also I agree with Boobaba, the directions sucked so be prepared to do some trial and error. By the way thanks for your help Boo.
mgthe3
Yeah, I like those Dennis
pcs15394
If you get the Aries Nerf Bars, do a search on the forum, I posted some pics the other day of the install. PIA with No Instructions. Should be somewhat helpful, but not sure if it is completely correct.

Thanks everyone. I can't decide between Chrome and stainless steel. I have silver wheels on a balck car so I guess Stainless will look better? Also less problematic as far as rust is concerned...right? What do you all think? And yeh...less expensive too...:D I called Westin and they are supposed to get back to me with a price but I doubt if they can beat the $238 price (inc shipping) on e-bay.

BTW, I called a local outfit and they wanted $575 + tax (almost $625) for a chrome one installed, and $675 + tax for one that is matched to the color of the car (?)
zebelkhan
I thought the exhust tips were chrome! If they are polished Stainless Steel, they should match the ones from e-bay as they are also polished stainless steel.

Got a price from Pep Boys for the Westin chrome bars. $387 plus tax. Sounds like an good price too. Funny thing is that I had to give them the part number as their westin catalogue did not list it. Turns out this is also the same tube as the one the other shop was going to sell me for $575 plus. Except they were going to install it.

Decisions.... Decisions.... Decisions....

I think the rocker plates look fantastic (and the fog colour match too...). As I am expecting my new Blue Murano in March I think it would really set-it off...

Just checking now to see whether they will ship to the UK....
special-k
I really wish I had the willpower to hold out for a Blue MO. All I could get in my area with the options I wanted was silver, and, although it's nice looking, I would have preferred a dark color. Especially since things like the chrome rockers wouldn't stand out hardly at all on my MO. :(

Merlot......... now THAT'S the color I really wanted, but not available on 04s. :)
ieatpho
Hi DeLuc05 do you have any close up pics of your install? I'm wondering if they fit flush or have a little gap in them.
DeLuc05
the first page of this thread has a pic of my car that shows how flush they are to the side of the vehicle.

I like the nerf bars too, but wasnt realy looking for a more rugged look for the mo..looking for a more refined look, and I think this really compliments the other chrome accents on the car without being too "in your face".
mrken3
SWEET !!!!!!There is just to much stuff to add.:p
