After months of hard work we decided to take a "long weekend off' a week ago. Went to Pensacola to recharge batteries. The MO performed flawlessly..........Fuel economy 23 mpg............not bad.........there is a stretch of route 98 very flat. The speed limit was 45 and 55 mph, with many traffic lights. I reset the mph and was watching mpg. Driving around 50 – 60 mph, with several traffic lights, the computer readout was 29 mpg! Did also some experimenting with A/C and found out that it affect mileage by 1.5 – 2 mpg (outside temp 90F, auto on 76F). I am quite happy, especially that the MO has 20k miles and was 87 octane.

Here she is on the Pensacola Beach.

This beach is beautiful. Reminds me of awesome Queensland’s beaches……

Something we used when driving from bar to a bar:D

Not bad for a 50 years old, hard working truck.........

I just got back from Destin this past Fri. The new Murano only had 300 and some change on the odometer when we left on the trip. Now that we are back it has right at 1000 on the odometer. I believe the trip monitor estimated about 18.5 mpg for the trip. I expect it to improve as the miles rack up. I must say, I have made the trip to Destin many times and this is the first time I actually enjoyed the drive down and back. The Murano was the best driving/riding vehicle that I can remember being in. I saw quite a few Muranos on the way down and even a few in the resort where we stayed. One big bonus of the trip was the covered parking. I guess no one had a problem with me double parking.:2:

Kris - Nice PICS.

Nice bike ;)

I gotta agree about how travel friendly the Murano is. I haven't had a lot of road trip vehicles - but I couldn't imagine it getting any better. Although they could do something about making it seem like you are going faster than what you really are. It is sooo easy to speed.

We also did Destin this summer [July 10-17, 2004]. We stayed at the Mainsail Condos right across from the Silver Sands Outlets.

Got to play golf at the Kelly Plantation and the Raven.

Not sure how many pictures the Mo made it in, the baby got most of the lime light.

Plenty of pictures on my sites.

Been a long time since we spent any time on the Redneck Riviera.
So long that the various Chamber of Commerce' have pretty well buried that old description of the area from Gulfport to Panama City.

Those Pix have got me ready to run on up there. At least as far as PC.

When I was stationed in Montgomery in the 60s (USAF), we used to run down to Pensacola or PC every weekend.

Great beaches, tricky water. VERY tricky water. If you go pay attention to the flag system and do not go in the water when the red flags are flying. Worst rip tides in the entire US.
The Red Flags mean that the margaritas are especially tasty today!

Geeze those pix have really got me goin..........

Love the Gold MO. Now that's what I'm looking for. We will probably wait for the 2005's tho.

We stayed at the San Destin resort, so we were in the same area; just different times. I'm not a big golfer so most of our time was spent at the beach/pool. The Muarno didn't make it in any of our pics either. The boy(5) took up all the camera time.

The speed of the Murano is def. deceptive. I think it is the loss of gears shifting that gets me. On the trip I just tried to set the cruise to 5 mph above the posted speed limit to keep me from getting in to trouble.
FlyerNo9
I enjoyed the 70 mph speed limit in MS, & AL... kept the cruise right at an 'under the radar' 79 mph.
Kris
ye, the MO is a great touring car. I usually set the CC on 78-79 and just cruise............

As to the deceptive speed - try FX! 90 mph seems like 75 mph in MO.............you really have to watch the speedo...........

My parents and I took my Murano on a 6500 mile trip in June. The murano was awesome. Tons of room and a pretty good ride - what a way to break in the seats.

Nice Pics Kris!

Did the MO trip last summer, this one, it was flying to take my daughter to go see the black mouse in Orlando, but Mom and Dad got some time in St. Petes as well.

The closest I got to a Murano is in the pic below... That's jaak, extremely relaxed, cell phone already off for a week...:D

It was hot and humid, just like Toronto is in the summer, but not this year for some reason???

I was stuck driving a Caddie.... Sure felt great driving the MO today!
Kris
Thanks guys for complements........the pictures are average to say the least............I got tired of my 4M pixles point and shoot (I always used SLR.) and got myself a DSLR. EOS 10D. Arrived yesterday. Won't take it on my next trip to Colombia and Canada but definitely will take it on my vacation in September to Naples, FL.

Se be on the look out for more pics.......this time Murano as well.......

Hey Kris, coming by Toronto? I'll take some pics if you are....:D If you come in February, we have stuff that looks just like white sand!
Kris
Given my "good luck" (going North in winter time and South in summer) it just might happen:D

Anyway, this time i will be enroute to Timmins? (is the spelling right?), so I will spend only an hour or so at the Toronto airport.....no pics though;)
jaak
Off to the Shania Twain exhibit?

Yeah Timmins.. So you're just making a connection through Toronto.

I'm about a 10-15 minute drive from there. You may need a bit more than an hour, as you'll have to go through Canadian customs on the way in and US customs on the way back...

I hope you're making the connection within the same terminal. Our airport sucks for getting from 1 to 2 to 3, as it's not well designed. There's a shuttle, that's a heck of a lot less walking then the insane distances between them.
Kris
Wow, glad you mentioned it. I am arriving at Terminal 2. The flight to Timmins leaves from Terminal 1. I have 1hr 25 minutes to make the connection. Let's hope you guys out there are efficient:D and let me through..........anyway, we are all subjests of Her..............so it should be easier;)
jaak
Sounds like they gave you enough time, but going back might be a longer wait. I don't expect you'll be sitting much. Either standing or walking.

It can get pretty heavy lining up for US customs and I've had wait times from 10 minutes up to 40-50 depending on traffic.

They will pick people from the crowd and fast track them to help make flights. If you ask about yours when you get in line for US customs going home, they may bump you up to the front. More likely if the crowd is big.

Welcome to Toronto's Pearson Airport. Have a nice stand.

Or a long walk, through the brand new Terminal 1, depending on where your gate is!

You should be fine... Just don't hang around in the shops until you've made it through customs!
Kris
Just made it back from Timmins............you guys out there do not appreciate how beautiful this country is!!!!!!!

Timmins welcomed me with an unbelievable weather. The air – clarity, feeling, smell, eh it reminded me good old Queensland Outback where you could see for miles……….
Beautiful country. Sad I did not have my DSLR and spent out there only couple of nights……..hope to get back out there for longer and get some nice pics.

Anyway, here are couple of pics from my P%S dig camera. They are nowhere near to the real thing.

You guys out there live in a God sent country!
:)
