Their navigation sys. looks so much cooler... Like the junction view.. check it out

jao nav

It looks like it has power folding mirrors and also the mirrors will point down when put in reverse for parking...am I right? If someone can read japanese it sure would be cool if they could post a pic of each item and then translate what it is and some of the details. One thing I am particularly curious about is that retractable antenna lookin thing near the front driver side headlight.
senza
The tires appear to be Dunlop Grand Treks...more of an SUV type of tire than the Goodyear LSs...
dklanecky1
Since all Muranos are made in Japan, whay do you think are the odds that all that stuff would bolt right up to our "North American" versions?

I really like the folding mirrors and their NAV!
ThisIsOly
Check out the "TV" button on the audio and navigation link...that's awesome!

It's a marker, so you have a better idea where the corner is. It'd be cool, since I'm always two feet too far back in the parking garage. Mercedes used to have these on the S-Class sedan rear fenders. They'd pop-up when in reverse.

They have a lot of fun things... I checked all of them and...
They have a CCD system so you can see the clearance in the back and side also. They have another CCD cams mounted in front bumper, so you can see both side without sticking your head into street too much... they need that in Japan, because the most of the small back roads do not have side walks. Folding mirror is remote cont. side marker is cute too. Remote control key is like Lexsus.. if you have them on you, it works.... I think all of them can be adopted to US models... one thing... the driver is on right side so some may not work.....
If any body is interested in translation of particular item, let me know... I can read Japanese.... Also, if there are enough people want some items, I can get my friend to buy them and ship them here.
jaycen29
I would love the folding mirrors. Do you think all that CCD stuff would be able to be adapted to our cars.
yoyash
Like I wrote.. the driver side is on right so the CCD camera is mounted on left mirror.... Of course you can try to remove it and mount it on right mirror.... but .....
yoyash
I also believe, firmware must be different from US versions. I don't know wheter firmware upgrade is currently offered from Nissan or not... A lot of stuff is firmware dependent, so I am sure the firmware must be updated before you can use those accesories.

Hey! I wonder what company makes the NAV kit? I wonder if we coud make it work in the USA. If it worked and we could get maps, how much would it cost?

Hey Yoyash, what do they say about the sport horn, and the foglights. Are those HID fogs? on that marker thing by the headlight I guess that would need to go by our passenger headlight. Wonder if it would work.
mattsmurano
Darn! The site says it will not work outside Japan....
jaycen29
Yoyash can you tell me what these are?

This will do http://www.worldlingo.com/

It does a good job, but you do have to use your imagination a little.
yoyash
OK... for
fog-lite... it is not a foglite..it is a illumination around foglite to enhance the looks...like angel light for BMW

sports horn... they don't say much about it... just another horn with different tone... did not say how loud or anything

The first and second picture is ETC system adaptor...ETC is the toll paying system in Japan for turnpikes...It is an automatic prepaid type system...

Third one is a parking support system, they call,...the pic is a charging stand with remote unit... this parking support system is integrated with car theft alarm which can alart the incident remotely. They also integrated mirror retracting, parking clearnace warning and mirror points downward when in reverse. The fourth picture is an antenna for that...

Fifth one is a remote starter with feed back system... remotely start, stop defog, lock unlock... with theft alarm...
yoyash
The side marker post ... I think you can put it on left side of the bumper... only thing... the wire may not be long enough...
yoyash
By the way, the small triangle icon with Japanese on right lower side of the each parts picture is the redirection icon for detail and more pictures.
yoyash
DVD Car-nav has VICS system integrated... Japan use only...

It sure looks better than the one we got here...
jaycen29
I would be very interested in getting those angel eye type foglights. I have been looking for an aftermarket acessory for that type of effect. Can your friend get these Yoyash. I'd also be interested in the folding mirrors and the side marker post for parking. If he can get them let me know the cost.

Looks like the same company. I spotted the word "Xanavi" in the nav description page. Well, check out http://www.zenrin.com/ci_general.html and you'll see that Xanavi is one of their customers.

Zenrin.com is where I submit map errors and updates, where I bought the updated DVD, and subsequently called to complain about the update breaking functionality (i.e. avoid area no longer works). They are responsive, in that one of my reports resulted in their removing an entire airport that had been replaced by an adult community years before I bought the Murano. Also when I called to complain about the broken functionality, they called back within 2 hours to let me know they saw what I was referring to and are working on it.

jaycen29...
Since the car was out on Sep.2, availability is unknown...
MSP .. without installation ...

fog...JY 15,750
marker JY 32,550

The folding mirror.... All models come with side CCD folding mirror...so this is not an optional item... the catalogue item was for remote auto folding. so you have to order the whole replacement mirror with motor. I will try to check the price for right and left mirrors..but since they come with CCD it may not be cheap... and I am sure that you must have different firmware and wire harness for CCD to work with your NAV system.
jaycen29
Anybody know what that yen is in US dollars? About the CCD in the Mirrors, I dont have the NAV anyway..So I wonder if I could just wire the cameras to an aftermarket screen? anyone know if that would be possible?
yoyash
official is around 110 yen to a USD, but street rate is 105

CCD can be coupled to Video amp, but not that easy... I don't think the CCD has any preamp or interface built in.

I sent a letter to Japanese Nissan and asked them about availability of those accesories and also the adoptibility to US models... hope I will get some answers..

Thanks for all the help yoyash. I'm sure as more items become available in Japan for the Murano your connections and interpreting skills will come in handy, hope you dont mind.
jaycen29
Yoyash can you tell me what they are saying about the mirrors at the bottom of this page? It looks like they adjust downward automatically when reversing to park. Is that Correct? Also what do they say about the power folding mirror? Are these two seperate options?

What is the camera mounted in the cabin for?

http://www.nissan.co.jp/OPTIONAL-PA.../Z50/mu023.html
yoyash
All Japanese models come with folding mirror and CCD ,ounted for side clearance view. By adding this remote cont. alarm system... you can fold the mirror re,otely and also it will point downward if you put into reverse.
OsCaR
yoyash

Can you tell me what this is. Is it a seat cover or just runs in the middle?

http://www.nissan.co.jp/OPTIONAL-PA.../Z50/mu013.html

thanks
jaycen29
so you cant get the tilting parking mirror with out the alarm? that seems strange.
yoyash
It is a water repelant car seat cover..... It covers the whole seat... I don't know why you need them.. unless you have a baby or kids or you spill things all the time... Just have 3M coat.... This one will repell all the water... this cover... so you will get that on floor or in your pants... 400+ dollars for that..... I don't know...

And the mirror ... all the mirrors are folding type in Japan... (You try to park Murano in Japanese parking and try to walk through ... good luck without folding mirror...)... to grt tilt you have to get the alarm system which comes with parking assist features....

Yo, Jaycen29..
I got answer back from Nissan regarding foglamp illumination...

They said, they don't know about selling in US yet... It is a blue LED illumination and requires the mod on foglump and clearance light wiring... You can directly order from dealer in Japan they said...
item is "THDU1".. and they said at end... "Please ask dealer in Japan for the possibility of shipping to US".... DUhhh As usual.. a lot of no help... Well, I will try to locate the dealer and will send mail to them and see what they say... be patient
jaak
Maybe I've missed it, but the one thing in all this, I'd really like would be MP3 CD changer...:p
jaycen29
Thanks again yoyash...u da best :29:
OsCaR
Did you say mp3 cd changer? I would love that. Does the Japanse MO have this? Man this would be really nice.
webtekie
Well I think at this point in time I would love to see "iPod/music storage device" input rather than MP3 changer. Otherwise I would need a bigger trunk space for all the MP3 CDs :2:
yoyash
Nissan is coming out new option for Japanese Murano....

HDTV with Karaoke machine....

NO.... not... I am just kidding.........

Murano is new model in Japan, just came out 9/02/04...

So wait for another 6months or so, then more options will come out... from a lot of other companies other than Nissan...

So who knows.. MP3..and other audio will be out from Pioneer, Denon,...Sony...etc..

Like I said before, I will keep trak with all Japanese new options and will report them time to time...
jaycen29
ahhh... 6 months seems so long!!! Must have accessories now :crazyeye: lol
GripperDon
Hey JayCen29

Where did you get the mod to make the rear windows one touch?
jaycen29
Its all part of my Clifford Alarm.
jaycen29
Hey yoyash, Any news on being able to get any of the optional parts from Japan? Specifically the mirrors or the foglights. Just curious cuz I got my set of 10,000K headlight bulbs and I want to figure out what I am going to do with changing the rest of my lights so I can do em all at the same time. From the posts around here it seems they are a real hassle to get to so I hope to do them all at once.
Snow MO
Jaycen,
Do you have anything in mind besides the fogs from Japan? My biggest qualm is my foglights not matching my 10000K lights.
jaycen29
I kinda would like to get the mirrors with LED. I like the fogs because the have the Halo feature around them like the new BMWs. not sure how bright they are though and if they would match the 10,000K headlights? Snow I saw a 10,000K HID conversion for 9006 bulbs which is what the MO fogs are on Ebay. I was considering getting it. Are you satisfied with how your parking lights match?
Snow MO
I was thinking of changing the parking lights to LED lights. Even though the APC lights look pretty good (have a bluish tint) they by no means compare to the light output of the HID lights. The nice thing about it right now is that the parking lights and the fog lights match each other pretty well. It looks really awesome, but eventually I would like everything that can be LED to change.
What do you think (linked to conserve bandwidth)?
http://www.bridgeout.com/mo/30.jpg
http://www.bridgeout.com/mo/23.jpg
http://www.bridgeout.com/mo/25.jpg

I would love to also configure the fog lights to come on with the parking lights.

I put a couple pics in there because sometimes the parking light looks almost non-existant and others it does not...depending on the angle.
jaycen29
Hey yoyash any word on the availability of any of the japan parts and whether they can work for our MOs?
GravityArc
I want that non-silver grill...That looks perfect on the Sunlit Copper Murano in the picture (which happens to be the color of mine). Anyone know where to get a grill like that in the States?
yoyash
I was gone to main land for a while, and just got back to Hula land.

Sorry, but I have not heard anything back from those bozo in Japan.

I might going to Japan in November.... If I do, I will check for all those things....
nycmurano
In case you guys were wondering, the illumination in the jspec foglight comes form an LED mounted on the upper rim of the foglight well. Which can easily be done anywhere here in NYC. As for the rim around the foglight, it's already there in our stock foglights.
jaycen29
Really nyc? I'd be interested in havin that done.
nycmurano
Well I don't know about most of the country, but most major cities i.e. nyc, la, miami, and other places that have automotive audio/security shops (at least the ones i've been to, including the one i used to work for) sell LEDs in varying colors that you can just wire up to your car, drill a hole, and mount it in. After taking a close look at the pictures of the jspec foglight, you can see the light source, personally I see an blue LED on the top side of the light well. I used to put these LEDs into car headlights, inside the cabin, and in other places and wires them to either the alarm led, headlights, and basically any other power source.
yoyash
By the way.. I sent Japan Nissan an email for requesting a catalogue of Murano and optional parts to be sent to me...
And, guess what... they said the catalogues are for the prospective buyers in Japan only.....
Yes, I did send them a nasty email back to them....

Now I am asking my friend in Japan to get the catalogues and send them to me...
jaycen29
cool yoyash, maybe once you get em you can post em.
yoyash
About fog light illumination...

You mean to say they are charging Jyen 15,750. which is about $143 US for just two blue LEDs and wires?

The small bump on top is LED and it is mounted outside of fog light?

I think I am in wrong business....
GravityArc
I just want that non-silver grill...Unfortunately I know that even if we could get one shipped here it's probably going to cost a pretty penny...
yoyash
I painted mine with clear smoke...
I will try to post the pic when I get a chance...maybe tmw..
I have a sunlit copper color

Heh no kidding. But then again I'm pretty sure some overpriced audiophile stores around here would charge you 100$ for the labor including the LEDs as well. I haven't looked too closely to see how much room there is around there. But you'd have to remove the wheel wells and possibly more to get the hole drilled in a good spot then wire everything up.

Actually if you got a DVD player that read MP3's you could create MP3 DVD's with 4.7-8.5Gigabytes of music. If the new Blu-Ray is compatiable, then up to 15 Gb.
