It runs from the intake to the rocker cover. Any one have any ideas?

This part of your emissions.It pulls blow by gasses from your enigine.
The hose runs to your intake snokel.The intake sucks out the blow by.In the old days they just vented the gasses. All car have this.

As I understand it, the crankcase gasses are directed back to the intake in order to be incorporated into the combustion cycle again for cleaner emissions.

So what would happen if i dissconnect it? and let it vent in to the engine bay?

The ECU would trip the check engine light due to a vacuum leak if you disconnect that hose.

Why would you want to do it anyways.
