Vent Shades - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ok, the vent shades are darker but not as optically correct as the weatherflectors. IE you can't see through them as well not only because they are darker but primarily because they distort the image. The ventshades are not as high a quality as the weatherflectors. They can't even get the double sided sticky tape on straight. The plastic material is different, don't know effects, but the weatherflectors seem harder. Also the packaging of the ventshades sucks. The vent shades rub on each other causing scuff marks. Weatherflectors packaging prevented this.

However, I'm sticking with the vent shades. They apply on the outside and do not disturb window operation. They look great to me.

Looks good. :29:

How do you think those would hold up going 160 MPH. :12:

Oh wait, I forgot, the Mo has a governor. :28:

Enforcer - thanks for the comparison & giving your final verdict.
I thought the WeatherFlectors looked "clearer" in the dark form, but with the fit & window raising issues they just don't sound appealing.
You can be first real listing in the classifieds for a slightly used pair of WeatherFlectors?

It looks like I'm ordering the Ventvisors for my MO.
Are they a little $ cheaper as well?:D
Enforcer
LOL! yeah...well friends of mine are getting a MO so I'm giving them the weatherflectors so they can try them out, but they'll probably end up getting the ventshades too.

Shades were $45 at Auto Zone versus the flectors $80 at weathertech.

Hey Newbie here ..just put the weatherflectors on my pewter murano last night .i didn't have fittement issues with them at all i will take a pic when it stops raining up here tommorow only reason i went with the wetherflectors over ventshades stlye is the fact i can't stand how wax can get in the grooves behing the tape .PITA to get it all out:o

Hey Enforcer, is there a reason you did each one in a separate post? Sure makes a long page!

They look pretty good, but I'm still trying to figure out why people like them. I had a friend who had them on a car once, but I could never understand why anyone would put them on. I'm not picking at you, I truly don't know!

Why are they desirable?
Enforcer
LOL...well jaak, I have never figured out how to put multiple pictures in a single post on vbulletin. Of course I can't figure out the php chat thing either :D LOL

In Canada you won't have a problem with this...but here in bama it gets HOT and it rains a lot. The vent visors allow you to roll the window down when it is parked at work so when you come out in the afternoon the inside isn't boiling. And if it rains, you don't have to run out and roll your windows up. A matter of great convenience to me. In the summer when the peak gets around 103 F, the inside of my Jeep (grey interior, red interior) got to 150 F. So I bought metal shades from the dealer and they made a huge difference. Been sold on them ever since. The heat is also why I like white exterior and light tan interior.

Yes, the MO looks better without all the plastic gismos on it. But the sunroof wind deflector drastically improves the wind noise with the roof open. I like sunroofs in spring and fall when it isn't boiling or freezing.
Enforcer
jb, I agree the wax buildup is a PITA. After I get done waxing I go around with a soft tooth brush and brush all the emblems, joints, seals etc.

Will be interested to see your pics.

Thanks Enforcer, that makes a lot of sense.... I was pondering this last night and remembered my friend saying he could leave the windows open a crack so it wouldn't get so hot inside (We get really hot humid days too.) and people wouldn't even notice they were open.

The rain protection's a good thing too...

Good idea. I'd consider it, but I'm fortunate to be parked in garages most of the time.:D
Enforcer
LOL, yeah, wish I was that fortunate...somehow I don't think my employer would go for garage parking for everyone.

I'm lucky, I have a home office, so I'm rarely driving the MO, unless it's on Business, and the longest I stay in one place is usually 3 hours max. If I had to leave it out in the sun all day, I'd be getting a set!

Looks great! :)

How's the interference when you roll the windows up and down?

BTW, the pictures say 1800 X 1200 but they display in 512 X 340?

The weatherflectors look the best, IMHO. Too bad about the catching the window bit... unless the rubber packs over time and eliminates that issue.

Well, for the first time in my life, I'm going for bug destroyer (the one from jb looks interesting), sunroof wind deflector, and rain deflectors. I think I'll just get the Nissan kind from the dealer at time of purchase.

Since I really like the midnight blue with black leather on an SE, I could live with Nissan's black-only rubber side protectors.

I've been opening my doors (Pathfinder) carefully, front and back, next to assorted vehicles, and I figure that you need rubber at 3 heights to protect from the most common door types. PF's rear doors would hit another car somewhere up near the window. A Toyota door would smack right into the bottom of the MO.

Scheesh. How about polymer panels for car doors. Oh, yeah, Saturn. Oh, well, not ready to go there.

Instalation instructions are linked on the knowledge base page.

O.K not to be a know it all ....but here it goes:2: ,there are 2 different ways to install weatherflectors ,i know they are designed to go into the window channel ,but there are 2 channels in the Murano to choose from.Take a good look at your windowwhen window is in the up or closed position, notice the weathergasket at the top.....it folds away from the door frame ...so instead of mounting them in the channels as instructed put em up into the gasket nearest the door frame ....just a suggestion but before doing this way tape with masking tape the edge that is around the rear view mirrors .saves from scratching it up since it is painted not just hard plastic in most cars .....this method of install does not work for all vehicles but 700 miles later the haven't budged even a centimeter and i check em every day........no window problems or issues of clearance at all...peace:1:
Enforcer
Great idea! :4:

Hey post some close up pics of this channel your talking about.
jb cruzin
as u can see i didn't put the visors inside the window channel as instructed "why who needs directions";) ,this method cannot be done on every make or model car ,but the Murano is PURRFECT,,,just peel back on the lil rubber gasket a bit slips right in .....hmmmmmm rubber and slips right in ....i might get arrested by a cyber cop:1:

enforcer - did your friends get a MO? If so, how are the liking the weatherflectors you gave them? Did they go with VentShades also?

jb - are you still free of clearance problems?
Enforcer
Not yet, maybe someday.

KS, try the weatherflectors and install them like JB did. My friends won't be buying anytime soon it appears, now they say they have to sell some property first and I just don't want to take the ventshades off to try it myself. JB's got the best of both worlds, better quality and no interference problems.

As a side note. I like them so I can crack the windows on hot days and in case it rains, the interior won't get wet. From that perspective, the rear window shades/flectors are sort of usless. When the rear windows roll down, it leaves a gap on the side.

JB - I'm not touching that last statement with a 10' pole. :2:
It's amazing this thread hasn't gone off topic.
Must be too many serious pilot people on our board :D

Enforc - that's exactly what I was thinking, since I've procrastinated so long in getting them ordered.
