question about the factory head unit - Click HERE for Original Thread
jlaudio
just got a couple questions about the factory head unit.

1. is the row of buttons for climate control in anyway? mainboard to daughter board? ribbions? wires? (for clarification i am looking to extend the wiring of the harness for the factory radio and relocate it and use the opening for an after market head unit.

2. the factory single disc radio is a double din size what is taking up all the space in there? can i take it apart with care to keep the boards connected to each other and reduce it to say 1/2 din and use the other 1/2 din for an after market head unit?

thanks all!

The radio/climate board completely occupies the entire front panel minus a cutout for the cd slot and tape deck slot. In order to install another double din radio there you would have to cut through a PCB and many little traces and chips. I would reconsider that approach.

Funny how this question resurfaces... Do a search and you'll find lots of pics and detail. For a start, here's the back of the controls...
