Help... I am missing out...! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Is there a way to do a search for all posts within a specified range of dates? I know if I subscribe to the threads I can do that but how about without having to subscribe to every single thread? Often I visit the site but something comes up that takes me away from the computer. By the time I get back, the unread messages have timed out and no longer show as new posts. I am finding that I am missing out on a lot of new stuff. I do not like to subscribe to the threads because then my mailbox gets cluttered by all these notification meassages that I have to delete. Any help? Thanks. :8:

Once you've entered the Forums, look for the "Search" link (it's in orange on my screen) at the top of the page, in the same line as the links for Control Panel, Register, Calendar, etc. This will take you to a search page, where you can specify a date range of sorts (e.g., any day, yesterday, a week ago, two weeks ago, etc.). You can also specify which forums you want to search. Will this do what you want?

It requires you to input a word or a member's name to search. Otherwise it either errors out or says nothing found, or asks for a word to search for. Are there any wild cards I can use? I tried "*" and "?" and they did not work.

Hmmmm...I guess I've only used the search function when I was searching for a specific topic. I see what you mean, though. I usually access new posts from the home page of the site. I've specified that I want to stay logged in, so each time I come to the home page, there's a Welcome Back box in the top left corner of the page that lists how many new posts there are since the last time I visited. There's also a link to see just the posts for the current day. It's easy for me to stay caught up this way. If that doesn't do the trick for you, then I'm stumped!

Thanks for pointing out that link! That helps a lot. Somehow I never saw it. I also got help from another member who showed me how to use a command to do a search. Thanks Dennis and jpburk. I am all set now! No more missed messages. :2:

I'm so glad that link is there. I spent the first couple of months digging through the forum section by section reading posts. Now I just pop in, read the new stuff, sometimes comment and go on my merry way. Convenient. I love this site.

I have not been to too many forums, but between the ones that I have, I got to tell you this site is the best. Both in ease of use and content. You just cannot beat the expertise and willingness of members to help out their fellow Murano owners. I am so greatful!
