I am spending too much time on this forum lately. I guess forced vacation. Anyway, thought you would get a kick out of my last meeting. It happened mid December in Indiana. One of those really cold (low 20’s) windy days. We had an Experience Exchange Workshop and on the first day we went to one of the Plants. I drove Murano and got a few passengers with me. A few comments on Murano.
American: so, you brought this funny looking station wagon again.
Canadians: switch on the warmers!
South African: Is bloody cold, I need a vodka or scotch! (I still do not know how does it relate to Murano J).
Brazilian: A beautiful car! (many times during the course of 2 days)
Australian: I need a brochure on the new Mustang! (It really is legend Down-Under)
German: what is the max speed of this? Computer governed to 118 mph. How many kph? Approximately 190 kph. Not enough! But it has a nice 6 cylinders, 245 HP engine. Why would you need such a big and powerful engine and then limit the speed to 190 kph? (I guess typical German rationale).
It is funny how people from different part of the world perceive vehicles……
OK, now back to digitizing old pictures……..just a few to go and all will be finished…. |

When I was over in Germany on business (age 21) a French co-worker of mine asked what kind of car I had. When I told him I owned a 2002 Mustang GT he immediately went to Ford's North American site and almost fell off his chair at the price I paid for the car stating that he had been working all his life and his car cost less than mine. I tried to explain that it's my hobby and it was the car I always wanted so I've been saving for it.
Well earlier this year, he had a chance to come stateside and when he arrived at corporate headquarters he stopped by my office and asked how my car was. I told him I traded it in for a Nissan Murano he said "Oh." and we carried on our conversation. Later that day he came by my office again. This time he asked why I bought such a big car when I am not married and what do I need it for. Furthermore he wanted to know all of the options that I got. I told him "all of them" and he almost died. We were planning on going out to Dave and Busters later that night and he insisted on driving with me.
As soon as he stepped into the Murano he was speechless. He said that he loved the interior design and the aluminum accents. He also thoroughly enjoyed the fact that I had the Navigation -- in French. It reminded him of the 5 series we rented in Stuttgart.
It's definitely interesting to see what others take on the MO is. It's one of those vehicles thats well suited for everyday purposes but stands out from the crowd enough that you can't help but take a second glance or comment on. |
