No game should EVER be lost because your kicker misses two field goals in two minutes - and especaily when they are the LAST TWO MINUTES....oh, and one in the last two SECONDS!
arrrrrgghhhh
40 years I'm a Jets fan - this sadness and frustration has become a way of life. LOL Thank GOD my MO runs good (so far...)
So now, I'm routing for the Black and Gold...
One for the Thumb, baby.
(Anybody but the Pats and/or the Colts!) lol
Well. since I'm in Philly, an Eagles / Steelers SB would be coolest, now that Gang Green is Gone Again!
thanks for letting me vent.... |

| A tough loss for the Jets...they played well....the Jets defence didn't make the Steelers look like a 15 and 1 team... |

There's something about that field that is tough on FG kickers.
But, not to make excuses for the kicker.
He gets paid to make FGs, not miss them.
The jets played a great game.
And Rhothleswhatever sure looked like a rookie. Most of what HE did wrong he did on his own.
There were some terrible throws.
Somebody needs to tell him, NO gloves on the throwing hand.
The steelers go no further if he can't get it back together.
They sure have a good Offensive line.
And their defense held the Jets to 3 points on Offense.
That's pretty amazing when you think about it.

| A moment of silence for the Minnesota Vikings....they looked like a beaten team before the game started....the Colts were pathetic as well....maybe there's truth to the saying "defence wins super bowls".... |

| Being a life long Steelers fan and growing up in Western Pa. I must say that I liked the outcome of the game. I do agree with Homer though that Roethlisberger needed to ditch the gloves as I screamed it the whole game. If they would have lost the game I think the Defense would have had to dole out a little punishment to Big Ben for letting their outstanding effort go for nothing. I feel your pain rbsmo04. Nothing hurts more than losing a game like that. We should have lost that game, maybe this is our season, as in the past we would have lost. |

Big Ben didn't want the gloves. He complained about them during warmups. And changed a couple of times.
It was a "coaching staff" decision for him to wear them. Why is anybody's guess.
I guess.
Somebody asked Cowher about Ben's thumb before the game. He said there was no problem with the thumb. When asked the reason for the gloves, the coach said it was a coaching staff decision. |

I am in South Eastern, PA. near King of Prussia.
I bleed Eagles green all the way. I'd like to see a Pennsylvania Super Bowl with the Steelers and Eagles. I think that Pittsburgh has the best team in the NFL right now and don't give the Eagle's much of a chance. But this matchup isn't a given yet since the Eagles have to face the Falcons and Michael Vick next weekend. I am sweating the outcome of that game.
I lived in Minnesota for 7 years and had mixed feelings about watching the Vikings play the Eagles this past weekend, but I was behind the Eagles 100%.
I like the Jets because of Herman Edwards since he was a former Eagle great!
Watch out though because the Brady Bunch is heading your way! |

| The Falcons looked mighty strong kicking the crap out of the Rams...should be 2 great games this weekend....definitely the 4 best teams left to fight it out.... |

According to the press, we don't have a snowballs chance in hell of beating the Patriots. I am reluctant to think we can beat them based on all the averages, Brady's 7-0 post season record, Belichick's record against teams he has played twice,
Roethlisberger's poor play lately, etc... I am just hoping destiny or luck or something interferes with the averages and we pull it out. Like they say - Thats why they play the game. |

PCS....Not all Patriots fans are feeling like this will be a cake walk. I for one am concerned that Big Ben has gotten his "bad" game out of his system last week and survived to play this week. And that Steeler defense concerns me. I'm just hoping were are not down by 21 before the end of the 1st qtr this time. If we are, it will be all over. The Steelers will do to the Pats what the Pats did to the Colts last week.
I'm looking forward to a great game this weekend between 2 great all-around teams. |

| Good luck this weekend. You guy's sure have a great team and a brilliant coach. I never thought anyone could do that to the colts. |

Being in the heart of Black and Gold country I can attest to the Steeler excitement. We've had 2 black and gold clothing days at work this week and everywhere you go you see someone with a construction hat on painted black and gold or the logo marked out on peoples dirty car windows. Hell, a school, New England Middle School, temporarily changed their name to Steelers School for the week! This is definitely a football town and a big win this weekend would send the excitement level through the roof.
Last week: Nothing short of divine intervention. We should have lost that game, but maybe its fate?!
This week: I think Big Ben has played all the bad games he is going to play this year and we'll have a Superbowl-type game this weekend ladies and gents!
HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO! |

PCS - We'd definitely welcome ya! I've seen you flying the steelers avatar from the beginning!
RBSMo04 - Yoy! How do you know of Myron? He's definitely showing his age this year, but the Steelers fans love him! I think that the alcohol makes them more forgiving...
Counting down the hours until gametime! :2: |

How do I know Myron?!?
"This is Myron Cope...on Sports."
lol
I did my undergrad work at IUP in the 70's...
So....because of all that....I know Myron.
Actually met him once during the 70's at the Monroeville Mall.
Actually Myron is one of my all time favoirte sports broadcasters. In my mind, he ranks right up there with legends like Cosell. |

My condolences to all of the great Steelers fans.
I really thought that they had a great shot at going to the Super Bowl. I was looking forward to a PA Super Bowl.
My Eagles won and I am happy as a clam. It's about time!
Although they are going to Jacksonville, I don't see them getting past the Pats who have such a balanced offense and defense, but you never know. I didn't expect the Eagles to get past the Falcons, either. |

An OPINION on the Pitts/Pats game.
Wow.
Is "Big Ben" overrated or what?
Maybe next year.
Or the year after that............
He fails to impress.
He does a perfectly lousy job of reading defenses and he has absolutley no touch, glove or no glove.
He is big, young and poised (Or he doesn't give a damn).
And that is a good starting point.
But you need more than that to be in the superbowl.
Teams do not need the best QB to go to the SB. Look at Troy Aikman and the Cowboys. Troy was better than good and shy of being great.
But you have to be further along than Ben.
Understand that I have only watched him the last two weeks.
But that's what I saw.
Another Bradshaw?
Maybe, but I don't think so.
As a matter of fact, what I "think" I saw was a coach who realized his team couldn't match the Patriots.
I know Cowher for many years.
He didn't get as angry as he should have.
Why?
I think it was because he knew that his team WAS doing the best that they could do, it just wasn't anywhere near enough.
IMO the Brady bunch (A fearsome football team to be sure) cannot push the Iggles around.
I predict a real tough game.
