When i look under the front of my MO there this a scoop looking thing that looks like it is for air or something. Does anyone know what it is for? all it is doing now is getting full of snow and ice. I am constantly cleaning it out.

Thanks

Helps keep your CVT (transmission) nice and cool mostly in the warm climates.

It is difficult for me to believe that you need to clean it out.
Sure if it get's clogged with Mud and dirt, but I doubt thatthe CVT will overheat due to an iced up Scoop.;)

So, that's at least one maint item you can forget!

You might want to look under their tho when the ice and snow are gone.
It would be easy for the ice and snow to squash the scoop and that would be bad news when the Ice and snow go away!

Your are correct. When you go reading about our transmission I am surprised the read how hot it runs, Part of the reason for the very expensive tranny fluid that and the "Rubber Molecules" I feel that the CVT failures we have had, are related to it's unusually high operating temperature and the related stresses on the casing, seals and related components. So the Europans will Have added cooling via the Fog Holes.
