I'm having an interesting problem after having installed the iPod adapter in my 2007 SL AWD with Bose. Before installing the adapter when listening to the XM satellite radio, the display screen entries were truncated to 16 characters, that is, the name of the artist and name of the song were chopped off at 16 characters. I was expecting this since that's what the XM instructions said would happen. But after installing the iPod adapter, when I disconnect the iPod to listen to XM satellite radio, the display is now truncated to 8 characters!!
Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there a way to get it back to 16 characters? |
|
|
| Corin |
On my 2005 the original XM display was 10 chars, not 16. Perhaps it's now just compensating for giving you all those extra ones for free for a while? :p
But seriously, on mine when I installed my ipod adapter, the ipod has a LONG display (rotate the tuning dial to get to the next screen) and when I unplug my ipod I go back to 10 XM char cutoff. At least I'm pretty sure. I can perhaps check during lunch today, but I certainly think I would have noticed if it dropped to 8.
When you have your Ipod plugged in, does it give more characters?
You might find that this really is a moot point, as you'll be more happy with your ipod and probably end up canceling your XM subscription anyway like I did... :D |

| When I have the iPod plugged in, the Murano display shows up to 22 characters. When the iPod is not plugged in, the display shows up to 8 characters. I tried resetting the iPod in case that had something to do with it, but no matter what I do I can only get 8 characters on the display. |

hello,
i have been reading this post but i still havent figured out what i need to get the ipod integrated in my 2004 murano.
I live in toronto...any one managed to get ipod integrated with the audio system so we can control it from sterring controls?
I have an SL model which came with 6 cd changer bose system and i have a SAT button on my dashboard but no satellite connected.
Please help me with the parts i need and instructions to connect it.

| 05 and newer were prewired for SAT behind the rear seats. You'll have to go with the hookup behind the radio. There's links on here for that setup without SAT. |

| One problem if you don't figure out how to drill a hole in the console and route the cable there...if you run it beside the console it WILL be cut by the passenger seat moving back and forward. It happened to me. Does anyone have the part number to replace the cable from Clarion? The cable is TOAST. |

Hi Everyone.
First of all.. what a GREAT SITE!! I am thrilled to have found it. :2:
I want to be sure I have understood what I need to do with my '04 Murano SL in regards to integrating my iPod.
The parts required are:
999U7-VS000 (Harness Type B) and 999U7-VR002 (iPod adapter)
Since my Murano is an '04 I have to connect the iPod behind the dash and NOT behind the driver side back seat.
Before I order the parts and crack my dash open is what exactly do I need to do to get the iPod to my center console, or, is that not going to be a problem?

Hello Brian @ Jerseyparts.
I'm wondering when you'll have an iPOD interface for the 2009 model SL AWD in Canada and if this will be availble at all for the SL?
Digital BoseŽ audio system with AM/FM/in dash 6-CD changer with 11 speakers, including 2 subwoofers (single CD with Navigation Package)
XM Satellite RadioTM1
MP3/WMA audio playback capability
Radio Data System (RDS)
Auxiliary audio input jack (auxiliary audio/video input jack with BoseŽ audio system)
The LE model comes with the "Interface System with iPodŽ"
with song information displayed on the center console LCD and steering wheel control but not the SL. I wonder if this would be a simple ad-on interface for the SL similar to what you offered for the pre 2009 models?
Regards

I bought an adapter from Neo Car Audio Systems that allows for control of your iPod from the audio controls on the stereo and steering wheel. It is also supposed to show the song and artist on the display. However, they don't show.
Neo says the Murano doesn't allow this, however the Murano manual says that song titles and artist show if CD's send that info.
This adapter works as if the CD changer is being used.
Can anyone add any info regarding how to get the song/artist titles to show? |

Hey Folks ... I'm hoping there are still some people dealing with connecting ipods to their older muranos.
I have an '04 and I still have the ipod controller for the Pathfinder installed (see page 2 of this thread) and it still works its me that no longer remembers the bazaar buttons that need to be pressed on the mo's radio to control the ipod... at this time I'm dialing up music on my ipod and then plugging it into my adapter to get it to play what I want ...
I wanted to know if anyone has a copy of the instructions that comes with the device to get it to work with the buttons on the mo radio.
And if there is a better solution out there that makes the buttons control the ipod like a ipod.
Thanks for any help! |

| I need to write down my instructions again. I do it for memory, and can't remember what the labels are on the buttons anymore! |

Thank you, GREAT that would be helpful!
Still, its been MONTHS since I've been here and I was hoping there was a better interface... using the xtera interface is like playing Simon while driving ... yeah!
Damn, the ipod does sound so much better then FM radio. |

Can anyone give me a quick confirmation that I have the correct parts listed to hookup my iPod and have access to it via my center console instead of my back seat?
Thanks!

You hit the PRG/RPT button to start all the options (unless you have a newer radio that has the CAT/FOLDER button).
You use the scan <<,>> button (or the tune knob, it doesn't matter) to move around in a menu and then you hit the seek button to select. The radio immediatlely interprets your selection and returns to normal view. Nothing is displayed to show that you made this selection, but if you repeat your steps, an asterisk (*) shows the current selection.
If you were good at Simon, you'll love this interface! I'm trying to make an image of some of the pages from the manual, but haven't had any luck yet. |

I have the same question as bmw911driver. I wonder if you can adapt the "integrated ipod" support that is offered on the LE, but not offered on the lesser trims.
It's almost a deal breaker for me. I'd end up with a lot more car than i need just to get the one feature I find most important (next to an engine). |

Howdy All,
This is my first post, but have been reading for awhile. I just purchased a 2007 Nissan Murano S. I bought the Sirius adapter from Grubbs. So here's my question - can I buy an iPod add on as well, that will show the artist and song title on my screen? Can the radio control the iPod as well? I was told that ifI have Sirius and the Aux inputs, that will render the CD stacker useless. True? Is there a better way?
I geuss I'm looking for the best solution to include my iPod to my 2007 Murano given that I have Sirius being installed. Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated! |

| You buy the kit for "w/o sat" as they all require SAT prewiring. The "with sat" has a passthrough to allow you to have both sat radio and ipod connectivity. |

Where is Jerseyparts?
I ordered an iPod adapter last Monday, got the order confirmation email, and have not heard anything back since. I live in Jersey, so shipping should take 1-2 days max. I have emailed and PM'd Brian at NissanIpod.com several times now to no avail. Has anybody else ordered an adapter recently? |

I finally received it a little over a week ago. After a couple of calls, I was able to reach Brian at nissanipod.com, and he told me they were having a lot of problems with Nissan shipping the modules out. I would give him a call to see what's up. |

I will try this once more.
Can anyone confirm whether or not I can use the below parts to connect my IPOD at the FRONT of my MO rather than behind the back seat?
Any help would be appreciated.

Folks,
Let me warn you all...if you don't run the ipod docking cable, "safely" through your vehicle, and, you have happen to you, what happened to me: My passenger seat slid over the cable, partially severing it, you will be screwed. You will have a $210 adapter box, that isn't usable. Why? Because, JerseyParts doesn't have a replacement, neither does Clarion, neither does Nissan. Nobody does. Its as if this adapter doesn't exist. We can buy them. I did. Nissan can sell them, although, they DO act like they don't exist, unless you give them the actual part number, and MAKE them look it up. But, evidently, NOBODY ON THE FACE OF THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLANET HAS A REPLACEMENT CABLE. So...let me be the warning to you all, if you accidently have this part go bad, or, are a fool like me, and don't run it up, safely, through the console, making sure to not put it in harms way at all...you will have a $200 box of poop on your hands. Sure wish I could enjoy the sound I heard once, until my cable got severed.

I know making an MP3 CD is is hard work (especially if you have songs in AAC format) but it does save me time from opening the console and installing the iPod kit... but the plus factor is, I get to leave the iPod safe somewhere else.
Just a thought...
I must be getting old - but how do i put my MP3's on a disc? |

I have a Geunine Nissan IPOD Attachment for 2004-2006 Murano (also works with 2005-2006 Frontier with 6 CD Factory Radio, 2005-2006 Xterra with 6 CD Factory Radio, 2005-2006 Pathfinder with Factory Bose 6 CD Radio, 2004-2006 Nissan Titan with 6 CD Radio, 2004-2006 Armada and 2004-2006 Nissan Quest)
that I used in my 05 Murano. I traded in the Murano in and now I am left with the Ipod Interface that I cannot use. I am looking to sell the unit which is in perfect condition due to the simplest of installs. I used the unit for 3 years with no issue whatsoever. The unit plugs into the open Satellite port in the cargo area behind the rear seats. the cable is then long enough to go all the way up to the center console. I just layed the cable under the carpets in the back and ran it up through the seats and kept my Iphone in the cup holder.
Fully interfaces with any ipod or iphone with the 12 pin jack. also charges it which is great. bought this new from http://yournissanparts.com/ for $210 plus $10 bucks shipping. Looking to sell for $180 or BO. Shoot me an email if you have any questions or are interested at kenknapp2004(at)yahoo.com |

I've seen lots of talk of part numbers and such for various model years, but I think information for 2003 is sketchy hence this message. Hopefully it'll help all other 2003 owners once and for all. This request is directed at folks that are familiar with the following year and configuration -- any help is much appreciated:
Specs / Background:
- 2003 Murano SE
- Bose 6-disc in-dash changer
- Has SAT button - BUT no Sat antenna, nor cable to rear cargo area.
- Nissan factory Nav
- I'd like control from steering wheel and song title displayed on screen (hence the PAC AAI-NS2 doesn't work)
- I'm under the assumption that I will need to add in the wiring harness behind the radio and stick the adapter back there as well -- that's fine. (as I have nothing in the rear cargo area)
- I've sent messages to nissanipod (haven't heard back), and their Front Harness install instruction link is also dead so I'm questioning the reliability of purchasing from there: http://www.nissanipod.com/page1.asp...e=nissanipodcom
- I've contacted Courtesy Nissan and did hear back from them that there are no adapters that work with 2003 (I provided the following numbers as potential fits: 999U7-VS000, 999U7-VR002) I've got the message from Cody in parts confirming it isn't possible. (I'm skeptical about this.)
- I went to my local dealership and they claim to have nothing that works for 2003, only 2004+. They'd be happy to sell me the 2004, but it's non-refundable.
Questions...
1. Does anyone with a 2003 Murano + 6 Disc Bose + Nav have a working iPOD interface? Does it display song title?
2. If so, what are the exact part numbers that I'll need to order? (Nissan dealership, even when presented with numbers below, claim it's only for 2004+ Muranos -- they claim to know of no adapters that are working with 2003.) I *think* from my research that it's the following:
* B8377-5W900 (2003 Adapter?)
* 999U7-VR000 (is this the latest adapter version, or do I need VR002?)
* 999U7-VS000 (Sat Harness?)
3. Does someone have an actual copy of installation instructions for those that will need to connect the front harness to the rear of the radio?
Help... ...and many thanks to helpful advice. |

| I'm looking into just connecting my iPod into the oem head unit on my 07 Murano....I was looking into the unit: PAC AAI-NIS2. Anyone have this or used this before? How is sound quality? I've heard that you have to turn the volume up more significantly to hear it - like turn it up to 20 instead of 16. Will this interface work on my Murano. I see a LOT of part numbers floating around here and am getting more and more confused as the minutes pass by. Thanx! |

I have an '03 Bose with No Nav and I too am looking to install an iPod interface. The unit I am looking at connects to the SAT port in the back of the HU which then connects to the iPod interface box which you hook up your iPod to.
All this is done behind the HU. Here is the link of the unit I am looking at through yournissanparts.com.

For all of those with older Nissan Murano's, I *highly* recommend the PAC Auxiliary Audio input... I too (as you can see from the prior posting) was looking for an iPod only interface...after a complete non-response from dealers, this forum and contacting the various vendors I gave the $99 option a shot. It resulted in me running two RCA patch cables to my glove box (completely hidden though the console area - completed in 2 hours) and now allows me to use an iPod, Zune and even the kids DVD player and games. It was cheaper, easy to install (even in my "odd" configuration, non-SAT, Bose) and just plain 'ole works. The quality is as good or better than the CD even though, I too, was skeptical about using the audio input over a direct iPod connection. It also provides two inputs so I can switch between iPod/Zune and/or the kids games whereas I'd be locked with an iPod only. (Charging is fine because I store that in the interior glove box -- yes two cables -- but doesn't impact me enough to care.)
Also, the more I looked into the iPod interfaces there were some serious limitations with how many characters would display (limited to 14, I think?) and the skipping of tracks was supposed to be flaky. Try the $99 solution first, and worst case, return it to amazon -- they have a 30 day return / refund policy.
Had I reviewed it on Amazon, I'd be giving it 5 stars...(i didn't have any of the 3 problems listed..and if a ground loop isolation is needed, it's cheap.)

Can I control the iPod from my stereo controls? |
|
|
| hedgehog |
| Not with the PAC auxiliary device. However, in my case with the 2003, I've heard that the controls for the iPod via the steering wheel were flaky. e.g. you must press and hold for 1-second to change track. In a friends system they even had issues with the newer iPod systems...(that's all second hand.) I'm not an expert with the PAC vs. iPOD interface, though sharing that I'm happy with my install now. |

I've installed my ipod adapter and LOVE it! Thanks to everyone who did the research on this and provided information. It all helped.
I have one issue. I installed the magic box under the center console in the back (the back fabric panel pulls off and there's space to install there). I want to run the ipod connection cable to my center console (the deep storage area), but it appears there's metal running all along underneath the console. Where have others drilled the hole in the console to run the cable through? |
|
|
| rixmo |
kelster, I've sent you a pm but for the benefit of everyone else, I'll answer here too. I put the "magic box" under the passenger seat and ran the black IPod cable up to the seam in the center console. There is a split between the carpeted section and plastic upper section. I fished it in there while the center console was removed (the part with the gear shifter) and drilled my hole under the lighter plug in the front of the lower box. This allows me to have my ipod in the lower compartment or the upper compartement since there is a small passthrough at the lighter. I usually leave it in the top area so it is easier to remove when I switch vehicles.
You may want to pull your black ipod cable out the bottom of the console, and run it up the side and back in where I did. If you do this next to the seat, it will be well hidden, however you need to be carefull of the seat rails as the chair movement will slice your cable very cleanly if not tied out of the way. |

All,
I have a question after reading this whole thread. If I order the http://www.amazon.com/AAI-NIS2-Auxi...i/dp/B00065L0C6 (PAC AAI-NIS2) can I use it on my 2005 SL which has the NON BOSE Radio? Do I just install it and use a RCA to 3.5mm adapter cable to plug into the headphone socket of my 3G Iphone?
I am using a Kensington FM Transmitter and am really tired of it but do not want to spend $200+ for the IPOD Integration kit.
Thanks
