GripperDon
Well Ladies and Gents, I joined this Wonderful group of folks 6 month ago this coming Thursday. During that time I have had the pleasure of moving from least post to most and along the way learned a lot from a truly great bunch of folks.

I have spend a LOTTA time researching, typing and thinking. It has made my ownership of a MO truly MOre.

I think it is time to back off on the intensity and let others have the top spot again. I MUST do my taxes and I have let so many other things slip so that I could stay hyper involved. I don't plan of dieing and leaving the site completely but cutting way,, way way, back.

As I fade away, let me say a heartfelt "Thank You " to all of those who have been so kind to me" and allowed me to get to learn a little about YOU as well as your MO's.

I have about 9 more post to make and plan to end it at 3000 on the anniversary date of six months. Overall average of 16.66 posts per day. That may take a bit to break that, BUT I sincerely hope someone does.

As always, with a rhyme in time and pun for fun, I remain your Gripper Don :D
Kris
RIP? ;)

No, can't be! Not you:D

Just keep them coming....:)
bob1
Grip....don't go, I count on seeing your 300 posts a day!

OK, you need some grandbaby and grippee time but at least check in a couple of times a day and see what's going on.

We kinda lean on you, your always there with advice and you have quite a resume to back it up.

So please don't wander too far, you can scale it back to ehh...100 posts a day!!!

I know the truth. It has been raining so much out there that Grip has to start sand bagging. Seriously Don, we all know family comes first so spend some more time with them but surf here occasionly and when you see a post that needs an answer that you have please post.

Hot then Cold? What's wrong with Luke Warm?

Maybe after the tax season, you can always come back and post as many right? :4:
mozman
Your posts will be cherished that much more going forward. You've been an invaluable contributor/poster.

I'm sure post #3,000 will be your best yet! :D
MOpar
Hey Grip how about an alias, keep your 3000, but post some of your good stuff less than GripperDon to give yourself a break. We would like some MOre.
bob1
Oh my, this is serious. 8 relpy's to the Grip and no response back from him. Quick somebody grab the high voltage and electro shock the Grip into reality!!! We're losing him, help. help, somebody do something!!!!
Bob
simplesb
So will he have the title Mr. 3000? Will he start making websites and businesses with that name to show his accomplishment? :2:
zebelkhan
Can we do anything to change your mind? I guess less posts is better than none but maybe you will change your mind later and come back full force. You've indeed been an invaluable contributor and we need you.
GripperDon
Let me make a final stab at this. First special thanks to:

Zelbekhan, MOpar, Simplesb, Homer, Sricha, RichE, RickM46, KSmurano, Kris, bob1, Ohio Murano, Mgthe3, SnowMo, mozman, njmo and Surag Rushmurano and to the many others that have said no many nice things.

Secondly, I am not getting rid of My Marvelous, MO! I plan on continuing to modify it as I have time to enhance its comfort, style and capabilities. As you know I have a number of things still on the front burner. Parts for all are either in hand or on order, with just a couple yet to be ordered. My oldest has yet to send me the MiniMAc for my voice activated carputer and I still need to take the test for the Amateur technicians License and get the 2 meter installed and Ethernet connected and on the air. So many things to do before I sleep.

Finally, I hope to be able to post a picture from time to time as the project continues. I feel somewhat bad and kind of a shirker going away, But I have a tendency to get totally immersed in things. But Daughter, Grand Daughter and Grippee and family suffer when you are either in the garage or on the computer all the time. So being the manic that I am I know it's time.

Thanks to you all for putting up with me and best wishes, as ever, GRIP :D
Kris
I can feel Greppee here…:D….I understand…………I learned long time ago you cannot win with a woman…….

Good luck with all your women…

I'm starting to feel like we need a wake or something. :(

Until someone is missing from our lives, even if only temporarily, we often fail to realize what affect they had on ourselves and so many others.

I am already missing your frequent posts.

Take care and we'll be on the lookout for ya!

PS - I'm sure you'll get a million invites... But, when the Grand Tour takes you toward St. Louis, feel free to make a little detour my way. We have the most beautiful Capitol west of the Mississippi! :D

Visit Jefferson City

Sorry, I'm shameless! :D

I feel like I completely understand. You become immersed in something at the sacrifice of the others around you who are counting on you for support, attention, etc... I have done it myself. In fact my kids tell my wife I'm busy looking at CAR PORN on the internet as I am usually reading this website or another regarding the Murano or various other things related to automobiles. So sit back, relax, enjoy your family and come back whenever you have time. Remember - we only have one family.

Don, from one obsessed forum member to another, it is possible to transition from reading every single post and responding to almost every thread, to picking and choosing the topics that interest you and just posting relevant comments and continuing to contribute to the forum.

You don't have to go from High Score acheiver to RIP. Instead you can follow the lead of most of the people on this forum and just stay involved in the things that most interest you. It's actually quite good and I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

However, I understand if you're off to your next obsession, as I too tend to do that as well.

Whatever or whereever you are, good luck to you. Most of us high posters have done this with continued participation of a long time, so it is possible to do that and still enjoy the forum.

Besides... The forum will call to you, you will not be able to resist...

The sentiments that you guys so eloquently stated go for me as well.

Keep in touch Gripper... your comments and input are always welcome.

Hey Gripper -- we miss you already.

I understand though -- I've found myself spending WAY too much time on forums like this and another that I frequent and completely wasting days at work. I imagine it could make a bit of strife in the domestic as well.

Don't be a stranger... you're definately one of the "favorites" around here.
special-k
Anyone else notice how much it's quieted down around here without Grip?

Only 15 threads with new posts in them this morning. :(
bob1
Yeah, I noticed, just look at the General Discussions section or Problems. When you pull the whole board to see the topics, there was always the last reply person on the right side of the screen "GripperDon." Looks very strange now and feels empty.:(

I was thinking the exact same thing. :(

One of the good things about Grip's posts was that he bumped a lot of the old threads. Now, there is much less to read. Hope he does come back after he is done with the other stuff he planned to do.
mgthe3
he wafted a lotta things back to the top that needed updating.

Hey Grip, why dontcha set aside a time in the morning or evening you can post a few---that's what I do with my family. Course, I am sure a lot of us post at work when we are away from our loved ones. I was an internet junkie at one time...they have papers and studies on it.
My wifey had enough one day and zapped me back to reality.

Now I spend my time online in games or forums (nissanmurano the Fave). But I set aside a certain time to be here when I am at home--at work I am doing an Active Directory/Exchange 2003 migration so I haven't been here much lately. :(

I make certain though, that I spend less than 1.5 hours online when my wife is at home with me. I learned a good lesson from my past internet addiction, it is a vicious cycle in relationships.....the spouce gets ignored and angry, the other finds solice from the angry spouce online....it goes on and on until either the spouce has enough and beans ya or throws ya out...orrrr, you reign it in like Don has.

Yep, da Maw needs attention, and, it is after all, much more rewarding than a puter.

:)
Hope to see ya post soon Don, take care of da Gripee!

The selfishness in me wants Grip back but I certainly know realistically he must do what he must. That man's life appeared to be 10 times more hectic than mine which includes a full time job, Wife, 2 young boys, a new Mo, and various other interest. Anyway I still look forward to chatting with jaak, kris, Mopar, and others who are still here. Grip would not want the rest of us to do any different. Life goes on.......

So unfortunately, you have to hear that line from the movie where the little girl says, 'He's Back'

All the Emails and Pm's over these many months were really grand and much appreciated. Hard to believe that so many would spend so much time to write them. Really meant a lot.

Sincerely Hope I can make a few worthwhile contributions to the world of modding.

The turn signal mirrors are fun and I will soon share my refrig installation and using a tool to recode my Phaeton and how it applies to the MO.

It really seems strange doing this after so long away. I have continued to peek at my favorite forum, so as that pillow on the bed says "I know where you have been sleeping".
ekaxel
Will he quit again when the post count is back up to 3000????
bob1
Welcome back Grip. You put a smile on my face today.
Now don't burn yourself out.......have fun!
Hmmmm. Must a been my post earlier today that said, Where the hell is Grip when you need him!

Hey Don! Welcome back! I see you finally got over what was bugging you... :D
GripperDon
Yeah you.
jaak
Good, so you're over it and we can play nice again?

I really did miss you...
special-k
Hey Gripper, good to see you back!

You got a Phaeton eh? You're the only person I "know" that actually has one. I heard VW was considering discontinuing it due to terrible sales. I've read that they're excellent vehicles, would like to hear what you think of yours.
GripperDon
I'll keep it short.:

1. Great power.
2. Wondefull 6 speed automatic.
3. The 4wheel drive is called "4-motion" trully full time.
4. Fantastic ride.
5. At 5300 lbs. It is a tank, the epotme of solid.
6. Quite like a cellar, even has laminated side glass.
7. The only non Aluminum panel is the roof.
8. Leather quality to die for.
9. Outstanding electronics.
10. Best car I ever owned.

Thanks for the nice "Welcome Back"
hasaanbhutta
and here comes the BIG GUY !!!......

Nice! Since you are a long time mbz owner/fan, how does it compare to it? - And when are you taking that "summer" trip to CA???:D
GripperDon
Thanks going way up there to cool Saskatoon from definately hot, Arizona.
hasaanbhutta
oh yea it sure is cold out here.... it was 3 C this morning.....

and i saw mid-west is burning .....
GripperDon
You know, I would have never in a lot (million) years ever thought I would buy a VW. Beacuse of old friends I got great buys on MBZ's.

Then I took that VW Phaeton Glass factory virtual tour on the internet. And was so overwhelmed at that final assembly plant that I started to read about "VW Personal" etc.

Then I started to look for a Phaeton and couldn't find but one in all of Arizona, which if you are going to buy something mans the Phoenix area. So I made a long drive to the dealer across town, 57 miles one way, Examined it for about 3 hours ( I am sure making a pain of myself) Took the drive and bought it on the spot.

Easily the best car i have ever owned and trully a poor mans, Flying Cloud Bentley. Same chassis, transmission, driving gear, suspension, Seats, doors, etc. at $100,000 less cost..

I visit the VWVortex forum a lot (hundres of posts already) have learned a lot about VW. Just learning they own: Porsche, Audi, Seat, Lamborginni, Buggatti, and many more was a real eye opener.

Well enough said, don't want to over talk my other ride. My Mo is still in the special place in my heart, "It's my Mod Machine"
