FireFox makes the message input box small? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ever since I installed FireFox a few weeks ago (yeah, I'm behind the times) I have noticed that the box for typing my message (this message that I'm typing right now) is very narrow. Makes it hard to really see what I'm typing. It's only 33 characters wide, unless the message is long enough to require a side scroll bar which makes it even smaller.

Internet Exploder had a significantly bigger input box for this. Anyone know the reason? Something I can change to make it better?

Everything else seems fine, it's JUST the message input box. Viewing messages and everything else works perfectly fine.

LOL, now that's dedication! Surfing the forum on a PocketPC! I can't force myself to try and do anything useful on my iPAQ.

In other news... I've been using Firefox since the first time I visited this forum, so I've never even given a second thought to the size of the input box... hm.

Ha! Actually, looks like your little PocketPC screen displays the same character width as firefox does on my 20" screen! :confused:

Here's your answer... albeit, don't ask me WHY it's this way. :)

In Firefox the box is defined as follows:

<textarea name="message" rows="20" cols="40" wrap="virtual" tabindex="2">
</textarea>

In IE, the code reads as follows:

<textarea name="message" rows="20" cols="70" wrap="virtual" tabindex="2">
</textarea>

Some attribute of the forum software must be setting the parameters based on what browser it detects, since it gives IE 70 columns and Firefox 40.
