The wife and I are getting reassigned to Eielson AFB, Alaska and should be there sometime in Feb or March.
So, for those that are up there, do you have any suggestions as to what I should add to the MO before I move up there? |

As I live in the northern half of N.A. you should ensure that your Mo has a engine block heater so when the winter weather goes down to -35C (or -35F). This will help your Mo to start on those frosty mornings. The block heater cord will be in the lower half of the front bumper. I also recommend the grill protector that you can get from Cloud-rider.com, this will protect the lower half of your radiator from road gabage like rocks and sand that is usually put on the roads to assist traction on icey/snowy days. And last but not least, get a good snow brush and ice scapper to clear your Mo windows of snow and ice.
Have fun in the great white north |

Sound like you may need clear bra or something to protect the paint from all those sands on the road.
Good luck man! But I hear it is a beautiful place. |

Best bet for a block heater maybe your dealer but I am willing to bet they do not stock them down where you are. If you are planning to drive to Alaska through Canada you will find the dealers up here have them in stock and be able to install them in short order by virture of practice. |

| I wouldn't be so sure about Canadian dealers having block heaters in stock ... all the Nissans at my local dealership come with them pre-installed from the factory. It isn't an option for us to not get a block heater. I could be wrong, though. |

just on a side not, my friend just got the new BMW 3 series and surprisingly BMW doesnt pre-install them. its an package worth 1999.99 where u can get the heater installed and get other stuff checked up (door hinging etc) .... for the sake of god, its a new car from the ULTIMATE machine maker and the dealer wants to check the door hinge allignment.....
i doubt they put salt in Alaska.... at least not here in SK. since the temp is so much below freezing that even salt doesnt make a difference. i heard salt is better only for temp upto -10C which is considered a NICE day here in prairies. |
