Yeah, to a break, as I wanted to see what it was like not coming here at least once a day. It was actually quite good, but I did miss you...
Saw Grip's back too, that's awesome, I hope he sticks around and we can be big happy family again.
Posts? I asked the Admin a while back about removing the Mods in the post count list, as I'm not interested in them, but being the high count, I always end up as a target. He disagreed with me, and felt that it was a reflection of contribution to the forum.
If you look at the high posters, they've all contributed greatly to the knowledge contained, so I ended up agreeing with him, and just have to live with the burden of being on the list.
So, either post like a demon, or go back to the fall of 2002 and join the forum and you too can have a big number that can't be sold on eBay! (Damn, if it could, I'd sell my post count on FreshAlloy as well!)
Anyway, getting back to the HP thing, Yeah, they're cutting more people. I believe some of this is still sorting out the staff with the Compaq merger (acquisition), plus Carly's gone, so the new guy has to pee on his territory. I left HP over 5 years ago, as they spun off Test and Measurement into Agilent, which turned in to an ugly mess, internally. They've since sorted themselves out, but it was a great move for me!
When the Dave Packard passed away, that's when HP really started sliding down the slippery slope into the company they are today. While they're still a great company with great products (and some not so great ones), they can't hold a candle to the old HP. It truly was the best place I ever knew, to work at. But all those things that made it so great, have faded, except in the hearts of the old-timers there. As I said to my wife in November 1999, when they spun off Agilent. HP is dead. Long live HP.
I understand Dave Packard is spinning in his grave so fast, the surrounding dirt has melted.:p |

I've been in contact with Gripper over the last couple weeks due to the buying/sharing of the intel key I bought off of ebay.
He just added turn signal lights to his side mirrors and posted the pictures in the gallery for all to see.

Well I hope Don sticks around. I don't have any issues with him, other than his hate for me, which if he can get past, everything would be fine.
I like the man. I just wish he would get over it and realise that a difference of opinion is OK and that it doesn't mean anything other than a different opinion.
Don, I'd buy you a drink if you'd be willing to take it... But I still won't change my OEM XM receiver for an aftermarket one! And there's nothing wrong with yours either, I just like mine integrated.
(Although those Ipods are starting to get my attention...) |
