If the charge light was not on, then maybe your alternator was not bad at all, and your battery finally bit the dust (not unusual for the el cheapo battery the car comes with). You might want to have them load test the battery too, since even with a new alternator, a dying battery will still give you the *click click click* blues. Good luck.

Anyone know where Optima Red Top batteries are sold? I'm only seeing online ordering.

Any places like Pep Boys or Autozone??

Would like to pick one up now to give to Nissan to install...

Thanks.

Yeah they sell them at Autozone and also Sears. The battery is very easy to replace, you don't have to pay the dealer to put it in for you, all you need is a socket wrench (8 or 10mm, i forget).

Thanks, Eric. I can do it myself, but I don't know if the original battery has any life left in it, even with the new alternator.

Don't want everything to die on the way to Autozone tonight, so I figured I'd just buy it now and let them slap it in.

The Nissan replacement will cost me $50.

Good deal?

Pretty cheap for a Nissan battery. The Optima will run ~$120.
