In the past few days, we have found quite a few Singapore MO owners in this forum. In order not to hijack threads that are intended for a specific topic, I have created this thread for all Singapore MO related topics.
Here is a run down on the Singapore MO owner so far:
tallan - black with sunroof (from TC) - waiting
marc5 - Black with sunroof (from TC) - waiting
r300emy - Black with sunroof (from Hycarz) - got his car
sgpmo - Copper with sunroof (from TC) - waiting
nick.sg - platinum (from Vin Car) - waiting
chimpanzee - Black w/no sunroof (from TC) - waiting
I would assume everyone is getting a 2.5L since the road tax here is so expensive. Let me know if my assumption is wrong.
Cheers.

so where's this klasse place? website? how much?
i understand that zaino is suppose to give the "wettest" look for dark coloured cars.
the effect would not be so evident for light coloured ones....
incidentally, are you getting any solar film from TC?
my SE recommended thermal guard, don't know good or not.
You can go to Klasse Web Site to take a look. They are in Bukit Batok Unity Centre. Klasse came highly recommended by the MCF forumers
My SE told me last week there are around 100+ confirmed buyers so how come it has grow so fast?
As for solar film, I am looking at 3M. The top-of-the-range performance package is around $1,150 with free tailor made 3M Nomad floor mat. V-Kool/Huper Optics will be higher than $1,150. Did you get the thermal guard as freebie? |

| yup got the 2.5l, the price of roadtax is ridiculous. When do you think it'll get delivered? Can't wait. |
|
|

| This seems to be a constantly changing figure from my SE. When I signed the agreement in late July, the date was late August/early September. A couple of weeks later when I returned from the States with all the MO accessories, he told me it will be mid-september. As time get closer, the date keep changing. Last week during the MO launch, the new date is October 9th. I was told that TC will officially launch Murano on that day. So, I guess the delivery date is anyone's guess :3: |

i've bargained real hard for it and the SE must have finally relented.....or else no need to go home.
anyway, haven't heard much about this thermal guard....not very confident about its effectiveness, may very well ask the SE to do vkool or huper for couple bucks more.
you might wanna get your SE to do the solar film, they usually have lobang, it'll save you a tonne!
why 3M? is it better than vkool or huper? |
|
|
| marc5 |
| Well, i bargained kinda hard, and i got them to give me an option of vkool or huper, to be decided at a later time, prob go for huper. unless i decide otherwise |

3M has very similar spec as V-Kool and Huper Optics. I have installed the 3M solar film in my house and it is very effective so I have no problem with using their film on my car. I have Huper on my current ride and it is also effective. I felt that V-Kool and Huper have spent more on advertisment so you can expect to pay for that marketing costs as compare to 3M car film which is relative new and try to establish itself in Singapore.
I never did push my SE on giving freebies as he might realized that I am very keen in getting the car. Once they realized that, you lose all the bargaining power.
IMO, they cannot afford to give you V-Kool FOC as the cost of that will be in the $1k range. One word of caution on asking SE to install V-Kool/Huper: Make sure you are there when they install the film. Check and double check on the film they use, they might be putting a lower grade film on your car. It is very hard to distinguish between them unless you are pros in that industry. Consider top-up to get what you want so you won't regret it. |

V-Kool is metalic base and Huper is cermanic base. You will have to cut a hole at the In-Car ERP unit if you use V-Kool. Given the chocie between the two, I will go for Huper as well but in Singapore V-Kool is more famous between the two. |

Hi Chimp,
Another solar films brand to consider, LLUMAR films (www.llumar.com). Make their onw films, not like vKool, OEMed. I'm considering this brand. Looking at the spec, TSER (total solar energy rejection), comparable to vKool films at cheaper price. Wrote to the agent in S'pore, there are stores here:
Sun-E Asia @ 6286 9028, Another at Upper Serangoon @ 6288 8323. Visited Sun-E Asia, quoted me the best package (package 5) including sunroof at $800 after 20% discount.
I called vKool Bukit Timah, asked for the best combination films, V75 (front) & V40 (rear), quoted me $1700. The salesgirl must be nuts!!
Cheers.. |
|
|
| chimpanzee |
I think the sales girl don't know what she is talking about so she quoted you the highest price. The $1.7k is for those huge MPV with two additional pane of windows. I have also went to Bt. Timah V-Kool and the sales said they do not have a price list on MO yet but I have seen their price list on RX300, the package that you mentioned is around $1.4k. I will get a 10% discount with my AA card but I am still not too happy with their price and that's why I was looking at 3M.
The other factor to consider on solar film is the skill of the person who put them on. You should take this into consideration when you make the final decision. |
|
|
| chimpanzee |
Just talked to the V-Kool guy in Bt. Timah this aftenoon. Confirm the most ex. package is @$1.45k for V-Kool and $1.5k for Huper Optics. The same as RX300. If you have AA card, there is a 10% discount on it. At the moment, no promotion...
An update from my SE yesterday, my MO should be ready first week of October. Hope there is no more delays... |

I've got my COE in early August. The SE told me my MO should be the 1st batch TC is bringing in. The official launch is around October 9th so they expect the first batch of MOs to go out just slightly before the launch.
TC is still struggling with how/where best to install that extra LCD screen in order not to have too bad of a glare to the driver. The reverse camera and GPS are all locally fitted. |

We can try to do a group buy but I doubt we can get even 5. This is usually the no. that they will consider giving reasonable discount. i.e. install 4 and get the 5th one free so if we divide up the savings, it should be around 20%. |

Hi Chimp,
Thanks for the update. Is this package using the VK75 & VK40 films?
I think I'll go for Llumar films, the heat rejection only few percent lower than VK75 & VK40, at almost 40% lower price. The only risk will be workmanship. But I think should be ok due to only 2 stores in S'pore installing. Not like vKool, many store & some staff may not be well train
Cheers. |

i missed you just couple of seconds....was couple of cars behind you - turning in from main road when you turned out from wheelock.
well, we'll have plenty of time to meet.
r300emy, let me know when you free to meet - would wanna take a look at your red interior as i'm gonna get jackspeed to doll up the seats somewhat like the cabernet edition found on the jap website....is yours the cabernet edition? |

Just got this from Tan Chong's Murano News letter:
Smart Screen Navigation System
The Smart Screen Navigation System is fitted as a standard equipment in the MURANO. A 7-inch LCD screen that integrates an in-car GPS Navigation System (with full navigation capability in coordination with both on-screen and voice guidance) and a video camera to display image of vehicle rear for safer reverse parking.

The LCD is directly above the factory fitted monochome screen. At this angle, I wonder how good the visibility of the LCD screen will be under the bright Singapore sun? |

COE crashed!
just our luck, committed to the deal already!
was wondering if any of the MO owners spoke to TC about this and how we can get more out of our deal?
more perks, further discount or has anyone walked out of the deal?
wanna sqeeze as much out from TC if i can....
looks like COE may head south further maybe after a rebound on the next few bids.....:(
anyone gotten their MO yet?
we're into the 1st week of Oct already.... |

Hi guys!
Finally, just got my MO! Pretty nice ride... Found the engine a little rough though... Probably needs more miles / kms on the engine first! How's everyone's ride coming along?
r300emy, have you figured how to work the TV yet? Was wondering if there's a TV tuner we can piggy back on the existing one...
Later boys! |

The new MO price from Tan Chong is still at S$110k. I am surprise TC did not adjust the price at all. Perhaps it is because of the added accessories that were already been added to the car FOC (reverse camera with color LCD and Navigation system). These items were not mentioned when I signed the purchase agreement so I take that as freebies already.
I have been chewing up my SE as he has been pushing back the delivery date one after another. I signed the purchase agreement in late July and he went ahead to bid the COE for me. I told him he should have waited on the bidding since he knows the car is not coming until late September. I told him I have no problem with higher COE if I was getting the car right away as I will just blame that to my luck. But, having been holding the bidded COE for over 2 months and watching it crash, I am really not too happy with his service. Wait until Tan Chong ask me to fill up the Nissan customer satisfaction survey. :3: |

Great to hear that you have got your MO already. Our 2.5L version is not going to be the same as the 3.5L CVT one. But as I have mentioned before, the 2.5L definitely has sufficient power for Singapore.
I should be getting my MO from Tan Chong in a couple of days. I just got my old car de-register last weekend and waiting for the PARF paper to apply it to the new car. My SE told me they will be registering my MO tomorrow or on Wednesday and I should be getting the car by Thursday the latest.
I am interested to know how you deal with the Japanese menu. Did Vincar provides you with a Japanese-->English translation manual? Seems to me the PI MOs are a lot better speced compare to the TC version. At least I will be missing the auto fold side mirrors now that TC has included a locally fitted reverse camera. |

well chimp, i don't know at what you price you got your MO but prior to all the preluanch disc, my MO with sunroof was 115.5k. last week the same car was going for 112k before discount.
i paid my SE avisit at TC was it was like a fish market there....didn't manage to meet her.
i did sms her asking for more disc which she said she will revert when she's free....
think must try to haggle for some freebies at least. |

| i think the tc muranos do come with auto folding side mirrors, ie you press a button, and it folds, thats what i was told and i was very adamant it had it. the se guaranteed it. but then again, i've been conned before |
|
|
| chimpanzee |
| I didn't know that. But, even with the auto folding, there might still be 2 versions. One is that you have to manually press the button in order to fold them. The other is that when you lock the car, the side mirrors will automatically fold themselves. I will be happy with either one. I should be finding that out in a couple of days. The SE has sms me the registation no. this afternoon. Currently still at SFZ. Mine is at the start of 3000 range. SFZ should finish by early November. |

I received a S'pore version spec. from my SE. It is stated as "power foldable body color". Do not think have the auto fold feature. |

Yes, I can confirm that the side mirrors are power foldable, not auto foldable. You have to press a switch to fold the side mirrors.
Got my MO just a couple of hours ago. :D |

Well, first impression on this is: This is one lousy Nav system ... Really bad. . . The thing is so bright sitting above the dashboard, it really is a distraction when driving at night. Not sure how it looks during the day (or under the sun) as I got the car in the evening. Now comes the worst part... you can only use a remote mouse to control the GPS software (no touch screen), to select functions or to input road names... Still have not manage to get it to work yet. Will have to refer to the "photocopy" manual...
The screen should not block your view unless you are really short...
But, having said all that, this is the only thing that I don't like about my MO.

Have been sitting in the living room looking out at the MO that is parked at the front porch. Here are the to-do list for tomorrow:
1) install solar film (can't survive under the hot Singapore sun without it). I will be going with the 3M solar film (100% UV rejection and 98% IR rejection-dark tint at the back).
2) install all the stuff that I've bought from the States... rear bumper protector, stainless steel window, rocker panel trim and the color matched side mouldings
3) install twister vision side mirrors
4) install stebel Magnum TM80/2 horns
I guess that's enough work for one day. |

hey guys!
great to know that you've finally laid your eager hands on your MOs.
chimp, can you turn off the navigation screeen if you want to?
and some pic please (with all the accessories)....have had seen many MOs on this site but have yet seen one from Singapore....who would the inaugural S'pore representative be?
C'mon...step right up....i can't wait.
i would be delaying my delivery to 2nd week of Nov (sobs :( ) as i would be taking a short holiday in japan for the 1st week and i can't bear to leave my MO unattended....
i'm really torn - the anticipation of waiting is killing me and yet i know to delay the delivery is the wise thing to do.
you guys enjoy your MO rides in the meantime....(jealous :( ) |

Hi everyone!
Looks like I just saw another MO on the road! I'm getting happier with my ride as time passes...
Chimpanzee, the Japanese Menus are actually not that hard to get by. Actually, I have sorted figured out the stuffs and what they do. Like you said, nothing much you would want to play with on the move anyway. Only thing is, I've going to try to see if I can fit a TV tuner for the car. The current TV tuner fitted does not seem to receive our freqs very well.
Anyway, we should meet up some time! I would love to see your accessories! BTW, just realized... Mistake on my part. My car is Dark Grey in color, not Platinium.
Cheers! Guys not yet received your MO yet, look forward! It's awesome! |

| There is a remote to turn the Nav system off. But it is very troublesome to do this everytime you start the car. I shall check with TC when I go in for the 1000km maintenance. |
|
|
| chimpanzee |
| One quick question about your JDM car: Is your car have the memory sear option installed? I realized TC did not have that in just now when my wife try to drive the car. We have this function in our previous car so I know I am going to miss it. |

chimp,
when i checked the tan chong website yesterday, the details on MO explicitly state that there was electric seat and in fact i double checked if it was only for the 3.5 litre model only, no specific mention on this, so i reckon it was available for both versions.
now that you mention this, i went to recheck the website, the details on MO is gone! |

The 2.5L has the electric driver seat but no memory so if you have two drivers like me and my wife, then it is a pain every time when switch from one person to the other. A memory seat will be painless with one push of a button and the seating position is restored. |

Actually my SE did mentioned something about a refund if I opt out of the Nav system in mid-September. However, that will means the reverse camera will also be gone as well. Since I want the reverse camera and they did not charge me extra for the whole thing, I just went ahead with it.
Some comments on the reverse camera: the locally fitted one is also inferior to the JDM stock reverse camera. The JDM stock reverse camera has guide lines show up on the screen to tell you the boundaries of the car but the locally fitted one just show you the whole screen without anything. It will need some getting use to without the guide lines marked in the camera. Hope I make sense on trying to explain the difference. |

The TC Nav system is very difficult to use. Perhaps I am a bit bias since I have been using something which is much more superior. I have a Pocket PC PDA with the GPS chip built-in - SiRF Star II which is one of the better mobile GPS chip in the market. I am using MapKing with Singapore and JB map. With Pocket PC, it is a touch screen base system with voice prompt so this is what I have been based on to compare to the Tan Chong GPS system. If not for the reverse camera, I would ask TC to remove the whole thing for me. |

I'm too only interested on the reverse camera.
We should find out which local company providing the hardware & software. Checked if this can be upgraded to touchscreen. Also add the screenguide. I think this is all in software. Was told by my SE they use the same company that install the software for BM.
Also should look into adding the side camera. I think it can be done. There is off the shelve video signal switching device. And with some modification should work. The side mirror with camera should be able to order from PI as part. |

it's the body side mouldings and the "murano" accents to your third brake lite i suppose?
can you post some up-close pics of the side mouldings?
am thinking of getting them....
are all your installations especially the chrome trims easy to install?
understand from your previous post that you got the vent shades as well.
i supoose they will cover the chrome trims as i noticed you didn't install them?
btw, where did you order those chrome trims and bumper protector again? |

Very nice.....
Are you added a protector at the lower door sill covering? Look like a shining piece of stainless steel coveirng.
Question:
1) How you manage to get the twister vision mirror for Murano. I was told it was not on themarket yet.
Are you using another car model for Murano side mirror?
2) What is the distance you use for the side molding from the door
depress line? 5.5" as shown on the installation manual ? |

are all your installations especially the chrome trims easy to install?
understand from your previous post that you got the vent shades as well.
i supoose they will cover the chrome trims as i noticed you didn't install them?
btw, where did you order those chrome trims and bumper protector again?
Yeah, you've got it. The side mouldings is quite easy to install as long as you meansure the height correctly. As for the window trims, it's a bit tricky as you have to plan each one of them and know exactly where to put in because you have only got one chance. It will stick to the trim like crazy so it is very difficult to correct them if you put it in the wrong position. I am not too happy with the position as some of them are a bit off.
As for the vent shades, if you are planning to install the window trim, you will need to get the "in-channel" type shades as it is stuck in the upper side of the window channel. I have got the in-channel type but since I have just install the solar film, I am waiting to make sure I don't have to re-do it before installing the vent shades. There are some bubbles on the film so I will wait until I rectify them.
It has been raining all day today so I will wait until next week to take some close up shots on the side mouldings. |

I will try to take the close up picture next week. There is some problem with fitting the smallest part to the car. My set did not fit perfectly and I have decided to only install the two long strips. The rocker panel comes with 6 pieces with two very small ones. |

That is the rocker panel which is part of the stainless window trim package that I bought.
Yes, twister vision mirror is not yet available for Murano. The guy from Blaz told me he will work with the distributor to bring them in so I will have to wait.
The side molding instruction said 7.5" so that where I put them. It is meansured 7.5" from the indent part not the bottom edge of the door. |

I got the windows trim from eBay and the bumper protector and side moldings from NissanParts4Less . For the bumper protector, you can also get it from the eBay.
Here is a link in eBay on rear bumper protector: URL HERE
Here is the vendor I bought the window and rocker panel from: URL HERE |

My instruction showed 5.5". Bought from the same shop you ordered.
I wrote to the company that make the twister vision mirror. The developement manager responded that not so soon as the mold is expensive. Unless he get enough request or market is big enough. He will keep me update if he has any solution soon. |

No, the HU is different and there is no NAV button so there is no connection for the PAC-NIS adaptor. I will have to sell it to some one with a PI MO which want to get an iPod connection. Anyone interested?:D |

thanks for the reply chimp,
I've been thinking of getting a fm modulator just to get the extra input. has anyone ever used of of these?
heres a link
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/csexpo/efpowacpllfm.html
i heard the quality is not great but its better than using an itrip. Its akin to the strongest fm station reception. its hard wired to the system via the antenna jack. I think the dension ice system is uses the same technology except it costs a bundle more. As i travel to the states quite often, I'm planning to buy these from there. Anyone else interested? I would mind carrying stuff back for you guys, just that bulky goods are kinda a hassle, small stuff i wouldn't mind so let me know. |

went to meet my SE just now to settle the final paper work.
got to see the nav system and i must say i was sorely disappointed with it.
first of all it kept saying that there was no signal and when i made a turn other than the designated one, it attempted to re-navigate my position to no avail and kept saying you're going in the wrong direction.....
programing with the remote was an ardous task in itself!
chimp was right, it kinda glaring too.....
if not for the reverse cam, i would've opted out. :(
was wondering if we can find some other use for this 'white elephant' while maintaining the reverse cam function???? perhaps as a in-car dvd screen? |
|
|
| chimpanzee |
I went to TC for the 1k service today. Checked with the SA on the Nav system - I still have not get it to work yet. He managed to make the remote malfunction too so at the end I was asked to contact the vendor directly. I think I might have to make a trip to Ubi to get the problem resolve. I have also contacted the LCD screen vendor (Tye Electronics) and complain about the screen turn on when I start the car. The guy told me they can install a switch in the car so I can turn it on when I need it and the default will be off. But, they are going to charge me $40 to put that switch in.
As for the Nav system, the system should never tell you that you are going in the wrong direction because in city such as Singapore, they should be able to re-reoute and provide you with a new route quite easily. I have been using MapKing in a Pocket PC and I have never encountered a wrong direction message. |
|
|
| tallan |
chimp, you mean to say that your nav sys isn't even working at all?
does it keep telling you that you're going in the wrong direction like i've encountered?
i am just vexed that i am paying $1.5k for glorified reverse cam with a nav sys that doesn't work..... |
|
|
| chimpanzee |
You read it correctly. The Nav system has never work even when I follow the instruction given to me by the Nav vendor so they think there is something wrong and asked me to bring the car over for them to check.
As for the LCD, Nav system and reverse camera, TC never charge me extra for it. The pre-launch price of $110k that I signed was before they decide to provide all those mentioned so I considered them as freebies. |
|
|
| tallan |
well my SE told me that i can choose to opt out of the nav sys and they'll deduct 1.5k from my purchase price.....depending on how you look at it, i guess there have built-in the price of the sys already.
no free lunch in this world i guess.....
well good luck with your nav sys and i hope they get the kinks sorted out before i collect my MO when i'm back from tokyo.
hey chimp, take some pics when you guys meet up on fri....it'll be nice to see both yours and re300my's wheels up side by side and the accessories.
it may very well be history in the making....the inaugural S'pore MO Club meeting!!! |

The Friday 9:30 pm Turf City meetup at the foodcourt near 7/11 is still on. So far, it is just r300emy and myself plus sgpmo (tentative).
Hey sgpmo, give me a call @9789-9543 if you can make it so we can identify each other.
Will try to see if we can take some pics but it might be too dark. Anyway, this is a start and hopefully we will organize another meetup when everyone is in town. |

hey chimp,
did some research and apparently your pac aai unit is used on the 2005 350z in the states. the thing is the 350z has a visually identical h/u to the s'pore mo's. so don't sell that yet, there still might be a chance it will work. I posted something on the dension ice thread with pics. go have a look. |

| too late liao. I have changed the HU to Clarion 956 and installed an audison SRx-5 Amp yesterday. Have been in the installer all day. The HU has an Aux in so I just hook up my iPod with a RCA-->35mm plug. It took them the whole 10 hours to run the wires and setup the ICE. |

An update on my NAV system problem: Finally went to the vendor and eventually found out it is the GPS receiver that is faulty. The system is now working but not working if you know what I mean. Even if I turn off the screen, the voice will still come out saying "No GPS signal" once in a while.
The technican there is quite friendly and has follow-up with me for a couple of time after my visit. My feedback to him was that the system is not up to scratch. There is a lot of "No GPS signal" even under open sky. The map is very primitive and very unprofessional. The voice is also very artificial.
But seems like Tan Chong has outsourced the NAV system to them and according to the engineer, there are already 400 MOs NAV system orders not to mention the other TC models such as Cerfio and Presage. Looks like we will have quite a few MOs in Singapore very soon.
Met a 3.5L black MO at the vendor's place. I have pass him a leaflet on NissanMurano.org. Hope he will join us here. |

Hi Chimp,
Can take the picture of the back of Bose H/U plus the wiring connector ? Want to see any chance to make it work with ipod aux hardware available in market. Thanks
Also please show a picture of your new h/u installed.

PAC-AAI-NIS will definitely not be able to plug into this thing. The big NAV socket is missing.
Here is more info on the model. This is a Nissan model manufactured by Clarion. Made in the Philippines.
Here is my Clarion 956 HU. You can see the 3.5ST jack sticking out at the box underneath. That is my RCA-->35mm jack for the iPod.
Edit: if you look carefully, you can tell where I live by the white arrow at the NAV system and also the FC of the car so far. :D

Here is a better picture of the HU.
more detail can be found here in the Clarion Singapore website |
