License Plate FRAME - Click HERE for Original Thread
TheGymKid
I thought I would create a new thread just for fun... What kind of License Plate FRAME do you have?

I have a NY Giants Frame on the rear and bent dealer frame on the front.

Post pictures if you got um. If not, get out there and take some !! :4:

I saw this one on ebay... anyone own it?
CopperKat
I have that frame on the front.
Jeannie
I still have the original one with the dealers name on it

*hangs head in shame*

Since I started this thread, I thought I would go take a picture of my plate frame to post...

I also have the frame pictured first except it is stainless and goes great on my sheer silver, it almost makes it look as though the license plate recess is chrome.
BTW I have seen a plate that sticks down in the recess that does cover the entire area with chrome--$48  I said, DANG! Killer mark-up!

Frame Free.

Personally, I hate them. (no offense intended to those who like them)

I especially hate the ones that obscure the plate where you can't even see the State name. They should be illegal.

The dealer ones really annoy me.

Then other day I saw a newer car with the dealer name on the plate frame, on a "chrome" nameplate, and on a bumper sticker. It was a Chevy.

Who would drive off the lot with that mess?

I have one like that on the back. It's called a "perimeter frame". The license plate sits on top and you have a border of chrome. I have a vanity plate and with a regular frame the palm trees and ocean design were covered up. Now the whole plate shows, but still looks framed. Paid less than $10 at Pep Boys.

I picked one up the other day that is made of CF. I thought it would look good on the Platinum but am having 2nd thoughts.

Anyone have photos of holders on a Platinum MO?

Im going to hold off on mounting the front plate until I get a warning or a fixit ticket. IMO it ruins the look I love so much.

Personally, I REFUSE to advertise the car dealer on my cars. I won't buy a car unless the dealer agrees to remove all stickers, decals, licence plate frames, etc. that advertise.

I've never been able to understand how people can be happy with this. And often you'll see the decals in the worst places that ruin the look of the cars.

You don't see RE/MAX stickers on a new home . . . BEST BUY on a refrigerator . . . . TARGET on underwear . . . .

Just my opinion.

I TOTALLY agree!
If they want to pay me, thats a different story. Even then, I wouldn't be cheap.

The first thing I did was remove the DrawTite sticker from my hitch. This just reminded me to remove the temp rear cardboard plate from the rear. I was going to do that but got lazy.

In the old days, they used to drill holes in the trunk and mount chrome placards with the dealership name on them. I remember my old man refusing to buy a car one time because the dealership wouldn't remove it and fix the holes.

I don't mind the Nissan emblems on my MO but if they came off or I could find a replacement for them that looked good I would.

All makes sense about the crappy cheap plastic dealer plate that everyone is ragging on... So I went to my garage and took it off the front. I put a plain plastic black one on that has a clear plastic over the plate.

If you do an amount of highway driving you may want to trade in your clear plastic for a laser refracting cover. The CHP here will target your front LP with their laser units to see if your speeding. If the laser is refracted they cant get an accurate reading.

Worth the cosy? You tell me.

speaking of which, has anybody tried using the "Photoblocker" spray to deter the stoplight cameras? I live where there are a lot of them and wonder if the stuff works.

check it out here: http://www.photoblocker.com/

I haven't tried that but there is a much better way to get around camera tickets and its fool proofe.

My car is registered in my wifes name and her car in mine. When they send a camera ticket, it is in the name of the registered owner. A ticket is given to the DRIVER not the car. The burden of proofe is on the ticket giver to ticket the proper driver. Camera tickets have a frontal view of the driver and the LP. If the ticket is made out to a female and the pic shows a male driving, they cant enforce it. They are playing a numbers game.

A simple letter from the registered owner saying Im not the driver of the car Im a female and the photo is of a male is all you need.

Sounds good in theory. Has it ever been tested in real life?

I doubt it would work.

All the authorities would need is a simple letter that said "Well then, forward the ticket to whoever was driving YOUR car that day, if you can't remember who it was, here's a picture of them"

What's the response to that?
FastEddy
My uncle taught me the trick, from what he tells me he has avoided 3 tickets so far In Scottsdale AZ. I just called him and asked if they ever followed up on trying to ticket him and he said no.

There is always a way to beat "the system", I guess. I would think if someone else is driving your car, then the owner of the car should be responsible for it. I guess not though.

In Oregon (and I suspect other places) all covers over license plates that might interfere with ID are illegal (fine up to $200). Also if the registered owner is not driving, the ticket goes away....
