| I saw 2 for the money this weekend... I don't recommend it. Not bad, but nothing special at all I thought. Save your $$. |

Anyone seen Serenity yet? I loved Firefly the series, but Serenity left me a bit nonplussed. |

Saw it on Saturday.
It was certainly "hollywoodized", but I still enjoyed it very much.
Without spoiling it for everyone, I'll make a couple comments.
1) The disposition of the captain changed. His crew wasn't really his family anymore. That bugged me. Especially the relationship between him and the doctor.
2) Sounds in space. That was one thing that really impressed me about the series. In the movie they muffle the sounds, but I was still disappointed.
3) Weavers seemed much more scary in the series than in the movie.
4) Not as funny as the series. The series was really a comedy, the movie was more of a drama.
The above issues were all minor problems. All in all, I thought it was an excellent movie and very well done. The assassin was AWESOME! I was very impressed how that was done (style + the character himself).
I was really hoping, though that the movie would spur the series to continue. I'm not sure if that's possible with how they left things... |

Don't you mean the opposite for #2? They did not have sounds in space in the series (they usually played a sort of Western music guitar music instaed). In the movie, they had your typical ships in space sounds.
In the end, its not possible to introduce the characters in the movie and develop them to the extent the series did, so people never got to know and "care" for the characters before they jumped into the main plot. |

I saw the first 15 min's of the movie... had to leave after that for a reason. I thought it was good so far... although the story was just begining. A lot of action in that small little part I saw. I like that. |

That's what I mean. The series didn't have sound, the movie did. That was a disappointment that I had about the movie. |

The soundtrack for the movie was more "action adventure" than the series theme as well. In fact, not even once did we hear the "Firefly" theme song during the movie. I was quite disappointed by that. |

Yeah, me too. They did play it in the credits, but only the music (no vocals). I wish they had incorporated it into the movie SOMEWHERE. |

Wait a sec...
Talk about thread jack, this thread was supposed to be about the movie "just like heaven" and the MO they show in it!
I got excited when I saw the MO but had to calm down because my wife started to give me that "you are crazy" look.....:2: |

yeah, that was a pretty big hijack.... Sorry! :)
My wife always jabs me in the side when I point out cars in movies (or tv shows, or out on the road, or whatever). But of course if SHE points out something, that's perfectly OK... |
