I am Gemini..........and proud of it! But when I read this, hm..........see for yourselves.....
Which Signs Are the Best Drivers? And the Worst?
by Nancy Fenn
Please don't shoot the messenger, but Suncorp Metway, Ltd., a multi-faceted Australian Financial Service, ranked car accident claimants by Sun sign in a study of 160,000 accident claims over the previous three-year period. This is what they found.
• Restless Geminis Behind the Wheel
The number one worst drivers were Geminis, "typically described as restless, easily bored and frustrated by things moving slowly," explained Warren Duke, Suncorp's national manager of personal insurance. "They had more car accidents than any other sign."
No astrologer would argue with that description of the sign of the Twins and probably this isn't very surprising news. But who's the best?
• And the Winners Are...Capricorns
Capricorns. Duke says, "Capricornians [ sic ], who came last on the list, [are] typically described as patient and careful."
No argument with that from the professional astrologer. It's no surprise Caps are the safest behind the wheel. They're the safest at everything! Their patience and sense of responsibility are legendary.
We've told you about the absolute worst and best, now for the complete list of all 12 signs. From worst to best, this is how they ranked:
Worst to Best:
#1 Gemini
#2 Taurus
#3 Pisces
#4 Virgo
#5 Cancer
#6 Aquarius
#7 Aries
#8 Libra
#9 Leo
#10 Sagittarius
#11 Scorpio
#12 Capricorn
• Bad Bulls
Yes, Taureans can be obstinate and inflexible, but they are also the most introverted and self absorbed of all the signs. Their natural path in life is to think about their own body - its immediate comfort and needs - and to deal with only the most tangible and immediate of realities.
At a very fundamental level, the world outside may not exist at all.
• Dream On Pisces
Pisceans are the gentle dreamers of the zodiac. They may spend many hours a day in fantasy worlds, escaping the painful realities of life on the physical plane and, more often than not, the pain of being in a physical body.
This detachment from the physical can lead to unconscious feelings of invulnerability or invincibility. If you are momentarily deluded into thinking you don't have physical limits, and that your life is but a fleeting moment in the eternal life of the soul, you can respond to situations of physical danger in illogical ways. Or, at the very least, be slow on the uptake.
• Safe Sagittarius
Sagittarians may stay safe in their cars the same way they do in life, by having superbly developed higher minds. Another name for this mind is intuition. The highly developed sense of flow and good timing characteristic of Sagittarians is what makes them the lucky sign. Furthermore, their minds are right at home dealing with traffic patterns, flow and spatial relations.
• Intuitive Scorpios
Scorpios, on the other hand, may stay safe because they are intimately involved with the inner lives of others in the same way their opposite sign Taurus is defended against this information. Scorpios are sensitive to energy - whether it is a foot away or thousands of miles away-and can feel someone " coming up from behind " at many different levels. Scorpios know if you've had a fight with your wife the night before or if you're thinking about embezzling or having an affair with your best friend's husband. That's why we always feel like they can see right through us. They can. |

Being a Capricorn (jan 12) I totally concur.
Interestingly enough I have spent a significant part of my life in and around racing. (As a hobby. I never made my living solely in racing)
From Driving Dirt tracks in Selma to 1/2 mile banked ovals in Al-FL-Ga in my youth (Grand National Early 60s) to being an owner/partner in the Toyota Atlantic series and finally owning a small part of a Bush car in Nascar.
You can be careful and still drive very fast. :1:
Many of my personal cars were extremely fast also, but I have never had an accident "at speed".
I have a hard time believing their theory. But 160,000 cases IS a pretty good sized study........

Virgo here.....
In my 20's I dirt tracked the expressway curves. Folks at work only rode with me one time. I had more dang hair raising close calls than I can count.
Only had one accident at speed ~150.
But it was a jackass car full of kids that decided to jump out in front of me from a driveway--had to make a choice in 10ths of a second: Oak trees--NOT---hate immovable objects at speed
early 70's delta 88 full of kids, broadside--NOT
6 foot chain link fence held up by railroad ties, Yep.
Had to change a tire after running over the stub of one of the ties I chopped off with the bumper. That was the last time my wife (which was 17 at the time) yelled FASTER as we came out of a curve power sliding.
Besides that, age has mellowed me to a more sane devil behind the wheel. Folks now let me drive them more than once and always say that although I drive a bit briskly for them, they trust me. My boys both WOOOHOOO when I do some quick curves in da Mo.

Yeah, I'm number 11 too, and it's true... I always figured it was from my motorcycle riding days and wanting to ensure I wasn't hit by some ijit in a car, that I was perceptive to what others were doing.
Even my wife has commented on how I'll point out someone on occasion and say, watch out for that guy. But you can tell a lot by lane position, maintenance of that position, actions in response to traffic, if they're using both hands to do their hair, one for the brush and the other for the curling iron.
Funny how I can percieve these things.. |

That's too funny.... Sounds exactly like my high school friend Andy, who was delighted that he made the 100 mile drive from his parents house in Toronto to his Grandparents house in Niagara Falls in less than an hour. Do the math.
This guy had half the footpegs on his motorcycle ground off from cornering so hard and the pipes were also flattened and scraped.
I was just shy of keeping up with him and thought he was absolutely nuts, yet respected his ability. He respected my sanity and always figured chances were, he'd get there a minute before me in a long drive, or later, in an ambulance. He's avoided the ambulance for years, amazing enough!
Power slides? Yeah, in cars and on bikes, four wheel drifts too. I look at drifters these days, and think, I did that without the suspension modified. What's the big deal?
Too much traffic to even consider that kind of stuff, these days. Well unless I'm way out in the middle of nowhere on a limited access road, and sure as heck not in the Murano, as something would break. I figure it's my winter snow fun antics that probably stressed the transfer case. A real 4x4 wouldn't have a problem with what I did, as I used to do it a lot in my Jimmy. (Engine, transmission, they went, but the transfer case was solid.) |

Every time I see "smokey and the bandit" and hear that transam tachin up the engine, I dream of the ole rally sport.....dam that was a car.
This pic was 2 years after I clipped those 4 ties off---with no repairs besides the flat. |

I'm a Virgo, but JUST BARELY as my b-day is Aug 24. So I'm right on the edge of Leo. Evens out, I suspect... :)
I've been involved in several accidents, but only one being my fault. And that was my first time ever driving on a freeway after growing up in a little town 80 miles away from the nearest freeway.
(All the other accidents were people in SUVs/trucks that couldn't see my little silver CRX. Half of those accidents involved a pickup backing up into me in a parking lot when my car was PARKED.) |

| I'm a Capricorn (Jan 2nd). I'm going to have to disagree. I'm pretty agressive when I drive. Especially if I'm in my Miata or my Truck. The MO, I'm kinda grannyish when I'm behind the wheel. |

Another Virgo.. thought for sure we would be tops :) Grew up in NJ, too. Earned 28 points by age 21. Still hit 100 once or twice a week 14 years later. Roughest accident with impact had me rear-ending some moron who cut me off without looking while I was going about 94 (+40 relative to him).. scariest without impact involved fishtailing in a Jimmy and flying off into the woods of Princeton, NJ, somehow landing perfectly between some trees. (Reportable) accident-free since '89 and ticket-free since '94. |

I used to post quite often on there, but since I've decided to sell the Miata due to my upcoming PCS to Alaska, I've kinda stopped. |
