Your MO is brand-new, right? Just a thousand miles or so. Have you ever heard of a break-in period? 100+MPH @ 5,500 RPM is not good for an engine with just 1,000 miles on it.
There are only two conditions where it is acceptable to run a new engine in that manner: 1) it is a rental car, or 2) it is your soon-to-be ex-wife's car. ;) Oops! Sorry, hon.
Be considerate of the VQ. Treat it right when it's young, and it will take care of you for years.
