| super zdjecia, those rims look awesome. you saved a whole lotta cash bringing the us murano over to poland instead of purchasing one there(retail for over 80k CDN with conversion). what part of the country are you from. my father is originally from gdansk and my mother from czehow. |

Teonek,
Didn't you have any problems with homologation of this tyres in Poland? Perhaps you know that in EU all Muranos are on Dunlop Grandtrek 225/65R18 allseason tyres (made only for Murano).
I have on mine 255/50R19 and I passed because I got the car with German national homologation (TUV). But because there is quite some snow here in Slovenia every winter I'm looking for something for the next winter and they should be normal dimensions and specially for winter.
I think your choice is a good one! Safe driving!!! |
|
|
| Alex |
....and I think (as nissanlowe wrote) the cash you saved by importing the Murano from US will be spend on the prices of the gasoline here in EU!
Right Poland???:2: |
|
|
| Kris |
| We have to pay $3.10 for premium now! :3: |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| they pay almost 3 bucks per liter in some places in europe. now that's sick. to bad they didn't offer a diesel version of the murano to the europeans. |
|
|
| Kris |
nissanlove
yes, they do. I was out there in December. Fortunately I had rented diesel cars. Still it was expensive. I think roughly 2 Euros/littre. |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| i was completely unaware that they have diesel murano's. hmm well you learn something new everyday. |
|
|
| Kris |
| Oops! I ment the "do pay a lot for gas"...........no sure about diesel Murano.... |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| hahah alrighty then:2: and it seems my european gas quote is a bit dated haha. turns out it's more like $5-6 cdn/litre |
|
|
| Alex |
THERE IS NO DIESEL VERSION OF MURANO IN EUROPE!!! Too much torque for CVT. They're talking something about diesel for next year but I'm not so sure.
Nissan is loosing a lot in Europe for not selling a diesel version of Murano.
About the prices:
http://www.amzs.si/?podrocje=18
The language is a little big strange, but I think you can find out the prices. |
|
|
| Kris |
Alex,
Nissan sells Muranos in SAouth America with "traditional" auto transmissions. So it would be possible to have Murano woth diesel engine and 4 or 5 speed auto tranny.
Gas Prices - I think we are getting close to you guys! |

Kris,
As Nissan is now together with Renault there are rumors that they are prepairing something for EU, but at the moment Renault don't have a diesel engine with enough HP to be a good match for Murano, and they are all 4 cylinder engines.
But as I wrote, with the design of Murano and without a diesel engine Nissan is loosing quite a market share here in EU where almost 3/4 of SUV's are diesels. But they have Pathfinder, Terrano, X-Trail, Patrol with max 174 HP and I guess they think this is enough - bot not for the Murano if you look at the competitors.
It's hard to compare it with BMW X5 or Benz ML (I was also thinking of buying one of them with diesel engine), but for the money you get quite a car and most important...with unique design. Only the consumption is a little bit high. |

i read a polish review back when the murano's were introduced in europe, and although they said the murano was a cut above it's european competition, they thought you'd have to be crazy to spend that kind of money for something out of japan. i dunno i guess they just didn't have faith in it or thought european engineering was a great force to be recconed with. i don't know how the murano is doing sales wise in europe so i can't really follow up on whether people took this review literally.
i know that renault has the technology to make a great deisel engine to match the MO's performance characteristics as i hear that they are bringing a deisel engine to the american market to be placed in the titan. |

Biggest star in Europe at the moment is the new Audi Q7. They are sold for a year in advance and that with the diesel 3.0l engine and 233HP.
It's just that europeans like home technology more then others. But as a former BMW owner (3 types of 5 series) I must admit that the techology and electronics are in German cars on much higher level.
When I switched to Murano I was a little bit disapointed with the technology, because the car supposed to have everything on board...but is far from that. But is true that at German cars almost for everything you must pay extra, but is also true you can get this extras (and you also get some extra problems).
Anyway if I would choose again I think I would again pick Murano...it has a breathtaking exterior. At least for a few years |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| we were actually thinking about upgradeing to the new Q7 when the v6 version comes out this summer but then thought about the audi VW relationship and how there reliability is outstanding for the price you pay. we'll see what the reviews are when they come out. |
|
|
| Kris |
Alex,
do not compare Audi and BMW with Nissan. You would have to step up to Infiniti to get closer to the former two.
Now, what does technology mean? Germans tend to overengineer and overdesing everything. I know, I work for a German company. Lot of our technology is in cars also.
There is also true that German technology is for engineers, not for average Joe Bloe. And it tends to be unreliable too.
I believe in KISS principle. It never failed me. |

| Alex |
Kris,
Problem is if you owned a good equiped german car like I did then in the new one you are always missing something-in other words you become spoiled.
But there are some comfort things that should be there and are not so complicated to be built in...rain sensor, external temperature, board computer with consumption display (we don't have in our MOs this option), the big screen is only used for nav...
Also a short story about how almost the whole Europe is on diesels:
When I bought my MO, a friend of mine want to go on a test drive.
Previously he owned Audi Allroad and now he has Q7-of course both diesels.
The first thing he did when he sat into was turning the key to start the Murano...but you know what??? The Murano was already running. Because he always drives diesels and he is used to their sound he couldn't hear the engine!!! |
|
|
| Kris |
Alex,
Outside temperature, fuel consumption and trip odometers are standard on US Muranos. If you get the NAV with tech package there are additional options like rear view camera, tire pressure monitors…..
I know what you mean about getting used to technology. It does not take that long to take things for granted! Anyway, you again used example of BMW and as we all know MBW’s tend to be packed with technology! I-Drive! But I agree with you that today it would not cost much to add at least the most basic options. Technology is getting so inexpensive these days.
PS. I will be in Germany at the end of May, beginning of June. What car should I rent? Last time I had MB C-class and Saab 9-5 3l turbo diesel (this thing rocks!) and liked them both. |

Kris,
If you have an option to choose, try the new Audi A6 3.0 diesel or BMW 530d. If you're looking for something smaller try the new BMW 330d. I think they are all great cars and if you have the opportunity, try at least one of them.
Some say that the new A6 is better to drive than BMW. |
|
|
| Kris |
Wow, BMW 330d. It sounds sweet! Here some data:
BMW 330d SE Touring | £27,545
Maximum speed: 141mph | 0-60mph: 7.8 seconds
Overall test MPG: 33mpg | Power: 184bhp | Torque: 288lb ft
the torque numbers are really impressive. I can imagine how it will "pull".......
:) |
|
|
| Alex |
Kris
What did you look at...old 3 series.
The new 330d (touring steptronic) has 6.9 0-100km/h, 231HP, 500Nm torque and top speed of 246 km/h. |
|
|
| Alex |
...or 6.9 from 0-62 mph, 153 mph top speed, torque 362 ft lbs, fuel economy 32 mpg average, 23.6 city and 40 mpg highway.
Anything else???:D :D :D |
|
|
| Kris |
| What can I say - even more WOW! :2: |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| i'd check out the new e-class desiels. supposedly they are supposed to be a huge hit in the states. |
|
|
| Alex |
| Try 330d Kris, when you will be older then is the right time to rent a Benz E class (they don't rent AMG versions)!!! |
|
|
| Kris |
Thanks guys,
now what I need to de is to " bend" the company policy regarding car rentals.....;)
Last week it was Buick Lucerne.....so we can step "down" now to 330d....:D |

Interesting Tread Pattern on Tires!
Are these to optimize performance in the snow? |
