| Can anyone explain why in the heck why some treads will not allow you to attach images... Is this based on the User? or is it based on the tread? Is it because there is not enought space left on the server? Sort of frustrating since I am visual type of person, as it is said, "A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words?" |

Probably trying to attach too big a file.
Needs to be less than 102 Kb.

Look closely when you do the reply or even on the tread, at the bottom of the page there is a box labeled:
Forum Rules: and under it this tread and others have [ IMG ] code is OFF...
It has NOTHING to do with size, it physically will not allow image posting either on
the thread or is it just me.. :confused: |

I took your BMP images, converted them to JPEG using MS Paint, and was able to post them without any problems.
Check out the original thread:

When I tried to post them as BMP files I was unsuccessful.

These are not BMP, they are JPG's and small ones to boot....
You are using the "Attach file" when posting. This is not using the IMG feature.
So here an example of what I am talking about. The first line which is a link to the image when the post is displayed, is not is what is in the source. The second line is what I would insert into the posting, IF you change the [ --> { and ] --> } and hzzp to http that would be what I insert.. If you want to see it, quote this post and you will see it in the quoted section.

OK, So I maybe using the vBulletin more that others, but go look at the

I am using it just as the intructions say you can.
Case in point, look at the last posting in this thread, it was mine and
I had no problems what so ever linking the image.... NOTICE you don't see "wa4qfy has attached this image:" in the posting...

I will even use the "Attach File" image so demostrate the difference. |

My problem with that,
1) I lose ownership of the images. They now stored on the webserver are owned by "admin" of the site.
2) I have been slammed too many times for posting large images in treads. Especially by dial-up users. Yes they are out there.
3) I also lose tracking of how many times the images are viewed. This tells me if people, like to see that information....
Call it a (c) copyright issue, go ask "762x51", he uses the link IMG same feature.

I HAVE done this is the past. Seems to me that one of the problems is whether or not to Capitalize "IMG".....but my rememberer is not as good as it once was.

Sorry, I corrected the title, but I never use the attach feature. My Bad...

| Dang thats weird. Ok, I understand what is going on but not why. I sent admin a message I know he will get it and will keep trying to get a hold of admin on this. I'm sure the intent is for it to be on on all forums. But I have a question: Is it just specific to a forum or have you ever seen threads inside of a forum that have these inconsistent forum rules problem? Reason I ask is it might indicate a database problem. |
