Changing Nav from 2005 to 2006 - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey folks,

NIssan have changed the OEM Navi in the 2006 Murano to a system that has more countries available on the DVD! Is there a way to change form the "older" Nav to the "newer"? Since the Navcomputer is a separate device I was hoping that the new computer is compatible with the rest of the installed hardware! My dealer was unable to tell me if that can work and since I have never seen an old and a new navcomputer next to each other it is hard to tell if that swap may work!

Does any of U have a clue on that matter?

Thanks a lot

Well you may not have to change the unit. New DVDs are avaialable for the <06 models. See this thread bottom of page 6 and beginning of page 7:

Thanks enforcer,

this is the information level I allready have from reading the forum. I just can't seem to get the info if there are HW changes or if there is some firmware update available.Looking at part numbers for my VIN I see 25915-CC000 Control Assy-Navigation and 28344-CC010 Transfer Assy-Navigation. Which of those is the nav computer it self? When i check part numbers without VIN I see also 25915-ES60A as a Control Assy-Navigation.The radio/cd unit is always the same but all other parts are seen with 2 different numbers except the transfer assy-Navigation.Even my dealer is confused & unable to get the right info :(

Are you sure the updated version 6.x does not have the same content as the updated 7.x version? Did you check with Zenrin?

The SM doesn't show part numbers. The dealer should have an exploded parts diagram that shows diagrams of the units along with their part number.

The navigation control unit is the drive itself. The drive has the processor, memory and gyros and stuff.

I assume the transfer unit is the display control unit.

I know that when I ordered 6.4 for the Z, they sent a Program CD-ROM which you load first, and a map data DVD that you load second and leave in. The program CD uploaded software to the navi control unit, like a flash bios does.

The problem is that the 6.X DVD for some reason is not having the Slovak Republic (where the Murano is) whereas the 7.X has it

This is the screenshot I got from the dealer:

This is what I ment when talking about part numbers:) As You see most of the HW is different. That said it would be cool if somebody has his Nav computer out of the car to make a picture of the connectors so that I can compare them to my nav computer;)

LOL until somebody does that, here are the connectors from the SM. Speaking of the SM, you can download it plus a lot more for $20. If your going to do mods like this I highly suggest you do that. See this thread: http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/...s=&threadid=238

Your dealer can get the info, they can call Nissan direct and ask a whole lot of detailed questions we don't have the answers to. I'd suggest you do that as you may have to update some other components as well, like the display screen. If this update to the NAV is such that they can't put the same maps on the 6.x, there has to be a reason for it.
