Hi all
Just joined, searched first for the answer to my question, found lots of info on bulbs for fog lights, how to take the lights in and out, etc., but not info on the assemblies themselves.
2003 Murano AWD, bought new in July 2003, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Halogen headlights. The fog lights both had their lens shattered the first winter, gravel and rocks flying up from the roads.
The local dealer wants $520.00 Canadian for a pair of replacement fog lamps........ As they still work despite the heavily cracked lens, I have been unwilling to spend what I consider a ridiculous price for a pair of fog lamps from the dealer.
I e mailed Hoen, they are happy to supply bulbs, but responded that they don't supply the actual lamp assemblies for a Murano. Searched eBay, several vendors selling Murano/Altima fog lamps in pairs for between $50 and $70 U.S. , plus about $30 U.S. for shipping. They claim they should fit, and indicate they come with brighter bulbs. Anyone bought these lamps off of eBay? Do they fit? Quality?
Any other suggestions for reasonably priced and good quality fog lamp assemblies, other than a Nissan dealer?
As for my Murano ownership, it has been more or less problem free. The grill "chrome" bubbled a peeled about two weeks after taking delivery. Replaced under warranty. Both cup holders (front and rear) broke, both replaced under warranty and fine since. Did a little involuntary off roading into a snow bank at a mountain ski hill last winter, shattered the plastic "skid plate", ripped off a tail pipe end cap, both replaced promptly and inexpensively at the dealer. K & N air filter. Factory tow package hauls my motorcyle trailer happily. Cargo liner protects the rear carpet from the Golden Retriever. No squeaks or rattles, decent stereo. The original brake pads are at about 30% at about 90,000 kms (about 56,000 miles), about to change them out, the Dunlop tires weren't all that great in the snow, but ran them for 80,000 kms (about 50,000 miles) until nearly bald, replaced them with Yokohama Geolanders in Plus 2 sizing, much happier with those tires, and they look considerably better as well. Change the oil using a Nissan filter and Mobil 1 5W - 30W full synthetic every 3,000 - 4,000 miles or so, make sure there is air in the tires and rotate regularly, replace the windshield regularly (flying rocks and gravel each winter) and the vehicle has been just great so far. Happy owner.
Thanks for any help concerning replacing the fog lamp assemblies.
Regards

Welcome
Glad to see another Calgarian in the fold. I too have a cracked lens on my Mo but have not had to worry about it. There have been a couple of forums about putting fog lamps on there Mo as there is a US model that does not have them to reduce cost. Do a search they may led you to a good parts source. |
