For your spouses, wives, girlfriends, daughters… - Click HERE for Original Thread
Kris
I have been thinking for a while should I post it. But in the end I decided that your spouses, wives, girlfriends, daughters may benefit so here it is.

Approximately 3 years ago my wife was driving home from work. It was dark, somewhere between 9 and 10 pm. She noticed a car that appeared to be following her. You know you ”get this feeling”. She started discreetly observing the car. It accelerated when she accelerated. So she pulled over to a well-lit parking next to a Publix, the car followed her. She started again – car followed her. Instead going home she drove back towards her work place – car followed her. At one of the intersection she noticed the car was driven by a middle age man, very professionally looking, “like a lawyer” she said. Without taking any chances she called 911 and explained the situation. She was immediately transferred to Police who did a great job. Within minutes they set up a trap at one of the nearby gas stations and guided her there. Once there she noticed a police car appeared out of nowhere and cut her follower off . A few more cars surrounded him. She was approached by a policeman who asked her to go home after making sure she was ok. I have to prize my wife on how she behaved. Also big thanks to the Gwinnett Police for their quick and professional response. They did absolutely great job!
It took my wife at least 2 years to get relatively comfortable to drive again at night. Why I am saying this now? For two reasons: we saw the offender two days ago on tv – a prominent Atlanta lawyer – see photo below (once you see the face you know you cannot forget it! Proof that scumbags comes from any background!) but more importantly I hope you can tell the story to your dearest so they know what to do should they found themselves in a similar situation.

Never drive home! Call 911! Make sure you are in a public area where are many people.

Kris-

Your wife is one smart lady. Calling 911 was the best thing to do in that situation. And kudos to the Gwinnett Police Department for reacting so quickly.

What happened to the dirtbag when the Gwinnet cops nailed him?

Why was the scumbag on TV two years later?

We have no idea what happened to him. We were never informed and we did not even know who he was. And to be honest we did not follow it as we wanted to forget as quickly as possible.

He was on tv because he is a prominent Atlanta lawyer (we learned this after my wife recognized him on tv) practicing now and I think quite well off. Jut wonder if it was "once off" for him and if anybody knows that...I am not going to loose sleep over this. I know he is a scumbag and this is enough for me.

Just wanted to make sure that you guys will convey this story to your families so they know what to do if they find themselves in a similar situation.

whats his name?
Eric L.
Good advice Kris.

I'm not sure what you plan to do now that you know the guy is still out there, but be careful - the dude's a lawyer and you don't know what kind of legal maneuver he can pull on you to turn the table around.
Kris
I know Eric. I am pretty sure he knows what he is doing. And judgng by his face (I am pretty good in reading faces) he would not hesitate to do what ever is needed to not only defend himself but as you said "turn table around". That is why I am not publishing his name. I think I will just leave it how it is. Just hope that it was an isolated inccident. It has been 3 years now and it would be impossible to prove anything now. And I am pretty sure there is no record of what happened.

Just an advice to anyone - do not hesitate to call 911.

A similar situation happened to me. Was driving through Arkansas (heading back to Texas) on a remote stretch of a highway around 2 am. My speed was about 80 mph and noticed a car tailing me. I sped up, the car sped up and tailed me about 2 feet from my bumper. I switched lanes, slowed down and they sped up and got to a distance where I couldn’t see them. Then all of a sudden they came into view again and began to tail me at 3 ft. I sped up, they sped up. I slowed down and they did the same. After about 75 miles of this I started flashing my headlights at the nearest trucker. I exited at the first opportunity and pulled into a gas station. The trucker (obviously concerned) sent a message over CB to watch for that driver. Keep in mind this was early 90s and cell phones weren’t prevalent at the time.

Long story short.. very scary (I’m sure I left out a bunch of details..) What I took out of it was be very aware of one’s surroundings! Wish I had the chance to see the persons face… Anyhow Kris I am glad your family is ok.

What really stinks is that this scumbag probably sweet-talked his way out of the situation and got off scott-free. That really burns my ass.

We from the Atlanta metro area know this Willie Nelson wanna-be. No he does not sing but has his hair in a long braid, some kind of trademark. He is always on TV as the lawyer for the dirt-bags. He's the type of guy that would be representing the terrorists on trial.

What worries me is that if he got caught once (that you obviously know of), how many times has he stalked other women?

With any luck he will meet up with someone crazier and sicker than he is and then he will get what's coming to him. :xnuts:

Good suggestion.... one other point that I may add which I've often thought about too... is being pulled over by a bogus police officer. Again, if you are concerned I would just all either the State Police or 911 and tell them the situation: "I'm being asked to pull over but I don't see any state plates or marking on the car, please send a standard cruiser and I will pull over without issue."

Everyone is on edge in a situation, just remember not to panic, (as your wife handled well) and keep good communication.

I called 911 years ago when I was following a drunken driver late at night on stretch of highway. After calling the State Police (*77 here in MASS) I saw a very fast moving car coming up from the rear.... it was the SP fast out of no where... Nice! They pulled him over.

Yeah Kris, I know that buttheads name.

Sorry that your wife had to go through that but yes, she should be commended for a job well done.

My wife carries mace on her keyring. Has she thought about getting one of those?
