Just as HID headlamps are a vast improvement over halogens, the same can be same for HID fogs IMO. This past two days I had the opportunity to drive in heavy fog, and a very dark and twisty road in the Sierra's at 2am.
I recently installed the HID fogs last Sunday as I wanted to improve on the already decent lighting on the MO. Living in the city I feel the fogs are not necessary. But early yesterday morning I left my girlfriend's house (Pacifica--right on the Pacific, and in Mtns) at 4:30am to get to work early as I would be in Lake Tahoe that night until Monday morning encountered heavy fog patches, and the fogs did a superior job to the regular halogen fogs. I was extremely satisfied with my modification, and put to rest any questions I had regarding the performance of HID vs. Halogen in foglamp application.
Leaving Montbleau casino (Lake Tahoe) early this morning back to my cabin, I again was amazed at how superior the fogs are over the halogen fogs, which most times could not tell were even ON. IMO these fogs will be safer for ME on mtn twisties...though I prolly would not like approaching myself in oncoming traffic on a two-lane mtn road. :1:

| Wow! They look great! How much for the upgrade kit? |

| It's sad that MOs are available only without fog lamps here in Europe!!!:3: |

| I went to the site and couldnt find anything related to HIDs for the Mo fogs. Could you please let us know where you ordered them and which ones fit? Thanks!:2: |

The shop that I purchased from is Umnitza- located about 30 minutes from me. I just went down and purchased the ballasts and hb4 bulbs, and completed the install myself. 45 minutes install time, and some nice scratches on my forearm. Stupid washer reservoir on passenger side...oh well, I just attached the ballast with double-sided tape on top of the reservoir- inside a modified freezer bag to keep moisture out! :D
I got a special deal b/c of buddy referral, so I can't quote price. But I am sure you can just call them and they will ship out what you need for this mod- which is just the ballasts and bulbs.

| PIAA Extreme White 194 wedge bulbs(parking light) are not a happy match with HID as you can see...I will be upgrading to 12 diode LED's. The PIAA's however are a much better match than the stock parking bulbs...the addition of the HID fogs increases the need to change the parking bulb as all this bright HID light makes the stock bulb look way out of place. |

what's the kelvin temperature of the bulbs you put into the fogs?? i found this site online also that has entire kits for pretty darn good prices.hid fog kits

| no i highly doubt we'll be changing the black chromies and HP sports. they're probably the most comfortable quietest best handling tires i've ever driven on. if we were to go to a larger diameter wheel we'd probably get the hp sports again. to bad they didn't work out for you... i absolutely love these tires. |

Headlamps and fogs are both 6000k. When I purchased the hid fogs, I tried out different combinations and was not impressed with the 43000k and 5000k fogbulbs.
I tried 6000k for headlamp and fogs- Found exactly what I was looking for! perfect match--beautiful whiteness with awesome color shifting...very similar to my pops BMW 650i:2: |

I do understand that the color of the HID output of my father's 650i is due to not the bulb, but the clear projector and spacing of the lens which gives that car the impressive white color with great shifting.
I was interesting in matching the color of his HIDs, even though both OEM bulbs are 4300K. Moving up to 6000k in my MO creates the color output I was looking for, understanding that 4300k is the optimum usable light output.
As far as performance of the 6000k bulbs I am very happy considering I was worried about losing 'usable light'. I did not even notice any loss, and the HID fogs I am sure overcompensated greatly giving me MORE usable light from my experience with 4300k and halogen fogs in my above driving tests.
Above all, I am happy with my purchase:4: |

Even on the photos, it is clear that the fog housings, designed for a relatively low output incandescent bulb are creating all kinds of glare high up with that much light coming out of them. Despite the fact that you are putting more light on the road, you are also annoying oncoming traffic with all that glare. A real HID application needs to have a reflector or projector pattern with a sharp cutoff for the upper half of the field to prevent this. Being from the Bay Area, I'm sure you've by now come accross the ricers who have dropped HID bulbs/ballasts into their 90s Civintegras. Annoying to say the least.
But, hey, who cares about other drivers right? |

| actually my camera did not properly the lighting properly...no glare. even so, i did state that i do not drive w/ foglights on in the city, only in very dark, or foggy conditions. and i do admit that hid headlamp and hid fogs are very bright, but in conditions that i feel the need for extra lighting, i will not hesitate to use both. heck, i will not even apologize for being a bright SOB as i have been blinded by big rigs with headlamps and two or three sets of fogs for years, and chumps with lifted ford or chevy's with their fogs also. :1: |

| I went to the store, the price is $275.00, but if more than 50 people will buy it, cost will drop to $ 250.00, what do you think guys? ah they are dreaming. |

| 2 days ago I saw new bulbs from Sylvania. Apparently they are even whiter than Silverstars. It could be a good match for HID... |
