I'm having a hard time washing, soaping, and drying the top of my Murano. I'm about 6 feet tall - but I guess I'm not tall enough. Any tips/ideas on how you go about keeping the top of your MO clean.
Thanks. |

I'm rack-less on top, much easier for me but I use a soft brush on a handle and I am able to wash it pretty easily. Drying, I can sort of get that chamois to the middle of the roof and get it done and I also use a squeegee to help pull the water off the roof. Waxing is another story, yeah, a step stool is in need for that.

I am 6' 3", so I can reach it just fine. However, I do make sure my belt buckle is not exposed when leaning up to the car.
Let's see, in your case you could...
1) let the air out of your tires :D
2) park next to a curb :p
3) use a stool :4:

Thanks all for you inputs. Looks like a lot of "gymnastics" is involved to clean the top. I'm personally contemplating hanging myself on a rope like in Mission Impossible :whip:
njjoe - you forgot to mention taking the tires off :D |

| I have a nice 3-step A-frame ladder/stepstool that works great for all kinds of things in my garage. I use that when washing the MO. Let's me get up and under the sunroof visor and the undersides of my roof crossbars. Very handy, very sturdy, and relatively cheap at Home Depot. |

Not I... the heart knows all, especially when it comes to the MO. |

We have a girl at work that refuses to EVER wash her car....I had to go to her house to do a home office install a few years back...oh dear, her house was the same...
But anyway...
She had a white delsol that was growing weeds on the rear deck--halarious!
I have the same 3 step ladder but it worries me as an awww$hit slip would ram it against the side. That is when I started using the milk crate. |

| I use a small plastic stepstool, and a wash brush with a long handle. And I'm 6'2". |

The only time I use a rag to wash the car is the middle of the summer when it's over 90 and I want to cool off.
I learned this...well, a long time ago....I went to my local autoparts shop and bought a SOFT truck brush. I mounted the brush to a threaded pole and I never get my hands wet. I even wash it in the middle of the winter (temp just above freezing). If you let the finish get just too, too dirty it's tough to clean, I wash mine (White) at least once a week. No Biggie. It's easy and I can get the roof pretty easily with the brush....remember SOFT brush. |

| Step ladder is the way to go! Not sure how the "open the door" technique works when washing, so can someone please explain that one? Works great for drying and waxing!:2: |

I use a soft brush (remember the shawala wash?) on a stick for the roof. For drying, I always use the Mr. Clean Auto Dry so after I've rinsed, spread Mr. Clean soap and washed with the shawala, I use the filtered water for the final rinse. Never have to worry about drying!
As for waxing, I get out the step stool. No other convenient way! |

Me too!
I got mine with the auto-spin accessory, so when I am done washing my MO I simply hit the button and she spin-drys in a matter of minutes. :2: It's also great for getting the loose change that falls under the seat cushions.

$60 for a step that you put on the tire? I fail to see how that gives any advantage to the $5 plastic step stool I use. :D |

Perhaps your unable to read paragraphs in their entirety......if so...you would have noticed that I also mentioned a $10 accessory found at any wal-mart. |

I did read that. Still doesn't answer the question of why the tire step mount is worth $60. I use a wash brush along with the step stool to wash the top of my MO. Oh well, to each their own. |
