There is a rectanglular section about 6" by 3" on the outside of each rear door, near the bottom.
Anyone know the purpose ? |

I assume you are referring to the clear poly shield mounted there.

If we are standing on the drivers-side of the car, looking at the rear door, where is the 3 x 6" panel located?

Irishman-
It is just what Homer said it was - a stick-on clear plastic film that protects the paint from road debris. Look at it closely and you can see (and feel) the edges. Nissan engineers must have identified that area as being susceptible to damage.

| Its similar to the clear 3M tape that some MO owners put on the front edge of their vehicles to protect against stone chips. |

thanks guys, after rechecking, I agree that its clear plastic add-on.
Seems like an odd place that would need extra protection. |
