Hi,
We are getting rid of our 2004 Infiniti FX35 this weekend (Lease) and are going to buy a Nissan Murano. I have a couple of questions in buying one. I'd appreciate any feedback.
Questions:
1. SL or SE? SE seems to have more options (see next 2 questions)
2. AWD or FWD? I've heard bad things about the AWD.
3. How are the xenon headlights on the Murano? We loved them on our cars we have now.
4. 2003 or 2004? Are the 04's a lot better? ie.. were there a lot of kinks to be worked out in the 2003's?.
5. How can I easily tell if a vehicle has the VDC/traction control system?
Thanks |

Answers:
1) Other than the options, the biggest difference between the two models is the SE has a firmer feel due to firmer shocks/struts and springs.
2) I live in the Northeast so AWD is a necessity. The AWD system is not a rugged bullet-proof system like those found on true SUVs like Jeeps. It is a part-time system that works fine as long as it is not abused. I certainly would not take it off-road.
3) IMO, the HID headlights are much better than the standard halogens.
4) 2004 models were much improved over the 2003s.
5) The VDC switch is located on the vertical panel, to the left of the steering wheel, several inches below the left vent.
